most likely time to throw up

Recommended Posts

This question is sort of two fold. I threw up food that got caught maybe 4 times in the last week. Small amount (it got caught when I started eating). It was always after 7 pm or so. The last time I chewed more carefully than usual but is there a time when I am MORE likely to throw up? I thought it would be in the morning but I don't really eat Breakfast and, when I do, there are no issues.

Second question is, could this throwing up have damaged the band? This throwing up is totally recent (I only threw up once before and was banded dec 1)

Definitely the mornings and I too find myself tighter in the evenings. It seems I have this 'window' in the afternoon where I can eat something.

By 'throwing up' do you mean 'bringing up' food that is stuck in your esophagus? Sometimes I just cough and it comes out. If you are regularly "throwing up" you should see the doc.

hmmm. I have no idea where I throw up from. I just feel sort of bad (heartburn like), if I have hiccups, I know to stop. I then throw up some. I think it was actually in my stomach. If I don't eat at night or eat very soft foods, I don't throw up.

If it is actually throwing up, you will have stomach acid mixed with it and it will be probably at least an hour after you eat. If it is the food mixed with saliva, you are just pbing. Not pleasant either, but better than throwing up. I don't think it is good to pb a lot. I don't actually know if it will harm your band. You should call your surgeon's office and ask them. You may need a very small unfill if it continues.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
