mmcurtis5 0 Posted January 19, 2009 My surgery was 4 days ago. The surgery itself went great. Was sent home later that day. Now I am having pain in the middle of my chest. Its like indigestion but very bad. The only pain I have from my incision's is the one where the port is and it is still swollen and tender. I can handle that but the indigestion or what ever it is, is so painful at times I want to cry. Does anyone else have this kinda pain? When will it go away? When will I get back to my life? Any info would be great.:huh2:
milesandmiles 0 Posted January 19, 2009 I had that exact same pain after my band surg.I even called my doctor at the time. All is normal even popcicles will cause the chest pain due to the fact that after only 4 days, your insides are swollen and your stoma is probally very swolen causing anything you eat or drink to cause the feeling. It will pass,i used to walk up and down the driveway and put my arms up to help it pass.. I hope this helps you and good luck to you.It will all be worth it in the end....:huh2:

milesandmiles 0 Posted January 19, 2009 That pain is from the gas used in the OR to blow up your belly,That will also pass..
MyDay2Shine 1 Posted January 19, 2009 I also had pain in the middle of my chest, it almost felt like it would roll up and the pain would get more intense and then calm down for a little while. I kept telling myself it was just the gas. On post op day 5 I started thinking it might be reflux/acid or even some type of spasam. I tried taking a pepcid that evening (I already take prilosec every am) and I felt 80% better within an hour. I checked with my Doc. and he said it was okay for me to take both of those medications for awhile, and he increased my doses. I have felt 100% relief of that pain. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better soon!
mmcurtis5 0 Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks for all of your support. I am 6 days post op and I feel alot better. Now I have gas stuck in my left side. I guess it travels. I now know it will go away, just not sure when. But the good thing is I am feeling better. Finally was able to eat some broth, not much but some.
