The Band and Smoking

Has anyone gotten the band and smoked. What kind of experience did you have?

I am a smoker, pre and post so I dont really know any different. I was lucky that my doctor didnt make me stop (NOT that, that is a GOOD thing, because i have to stop - but one vice at a time) I honestly think it has helped, I have lost 73 lbs in 5 months.

My doctor made me stop smoking before surgery. Something about going under anestethsia (sp) and breathing. It was easy to quit becuase it is not healthy and I was nervous about "going under" I smoked for 14 of my 28 years. Because I quit 3 weeks before I was banded, I don't have to worry about gaining weight. You really should try. If you want to lose weight for health reasons, then why continue to smoke?

thanks for all of the advice. I am in Mexico now. Surgery is Monday morning at 10:00.
