pwoods5015 0 Posted January 18, 2009 my clinic staff/doctor also say carbonation is out for life. One of the women in the office had the band put in about 3 years ago. Some of the staff told me she is drinking diet pepsi all day. Of course, she was recently at the ER and had to have her band removed and replaced...... lellow 1,713 Posted January 18, 2009 Hang tough, matey. I was someone who had a coke a day for the last 10 years. I haven't had a drop of anything more than iced tea in over 5 months, and all my cravings for soda are completely gone now.
Lil_Mama74 0 Posted January 18, 2009 My surgeon says we can have diet uncaffenated soda occassionally but to pour over ice to let some of the carbonation fizzle out!
TQUAD64 9 Posted January 18, 2009 My doctor does not allow soda pop. I never drank it before anyway. You might want to see what your doctor says about soda.
princess070 0 Posted January 18, 2009 Nope, no soda! I was addicted to diet coke for years, its been the hardest thing to give up. now I like to have a glass of raspberry ice flavor crystal lite with ice.
twiggysmiff 0 Posted January 18, 2009 Depends on your doctor's instructions. Mine says you can't have anything with carbonation for life. The gas bubbles can damage your pouch.
stevegoad 32 Posted January 18, 2009 Pretty much, the general rule is no sodas (like you haven't already guessed that). I can't say I don't have any sodas. I was drinking between 4 and 6 liters a day before surgery - I went from that to almost none in 3 weeks. Now, I will have a can of diet coke maybe once a week.(usually if it is a situation visiting friends who don't know about the surgery). It is amazing how easy it was to cut it out. No problems. jimmielou 0 Posted January 18, 2009 I hope so because I too have a diet coke addition. I guess if we can give up all the other bad stuff we can give up diet coke too. Good Luck
klutzyazhel 0 Posted January 18, 2009 I posted this somewhere else but, I can have soda after 6 weeks, but only 1 a day!! At the seminar, the Doctor giving the lecture had not only had the lap-band himself but was also drinking a diet coke! I had two tiny sips of a fountain diet coke (watered down)yesterday and did just fine..I am not at 6 weeks yet! My Bad!!! Anyway, In two weeks I sure will try a diet dew.. doodleallday 0 Posted January 18, 2009 ZOMG I know its already been said, but by having the band placed, you forfeited any carbonated beverage from there on. Its for your absolute safety that you do not imbibe anything like diet soda. If you do, you risk causing your band to slip out of place and your stomach to expand back to normal.
