Post surgery was really rough on me too. It seemed a lot harder than anyone had prepared me for. Everyone else was back at work in days, but I felt like you did for days (and more!)

I had that horrible shoulder gas too. Anyone else have that problem? My incisions seemed to cause more pain than any possible internal pain as well. Especially the big one in the middle, where the port is. (The doc said that was normal.)

I remember my first small victory... the day I got up and out of bed by myself, without my dad having to pull me up. That was after 4 or 5 days, and I actually felt if I could do that then the rest would be fine.

Even with that, however, I wore loose sweatpants and big shirts for the next couple of weeks, even to work. I wore a bra, but it hurt so badly. When I was home I would take off the bra and tuck my shirt under my breasts. That kept them slightly elevated and off of my incisions. I was most comfortable sitting like that slightly reclined on the couch (propped up with pillows.) I don't know if that's a helpful suggestion for you or not.

Just hang in there and do your best. You've come so far already, congratulations!

Recovery sucks, but when you get to feeling better, life will be good with the band.

Take care.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
