I'm having gas pains from my surgery and while its nowhere near as bad as when I had a C-section, I'm not overly comfortable. I'm taking a gas X chewable regularly and it does seem to be helping, but the box says not to go over 6 per day. I haven't been keeping track of how many I take. How many did you guys take each day?

(TMI notice!!) On a brighter note, some of the gas is coming out and earlier today, I had the most amazing fart ever in my life!!! LOL Gosh it felt so good! :yikes:

I would just track and try not to go over the 6. If it is only gas, it should get better and better each day and in another week you might not be taking gas-x at all.

If your gas pains are strongly affecting the left neck/shoulder than it might not be gas pain, it might be an irritated nerve.

You know that is a good question. I never track how many of the little GasX strips I place in my mouth. I just keep taking them to help with the gas.

I don't think you can OD on the GasX.

Twiggysmiff,

While I don't think you can OD on Gas x its propably not good to exceed the recommeded dose. I just had my surgery on 1/13 and have found that a moist heat heating pad helps greatly with the gas. I do know what you mean about the best fart of your life as right before it happened you felt like your body was about to implode and the release was nearly the bes sensation ever. I experianced a similar situation and would have jumped for joy but eleceted to not for fear of damage to the incisions. :yikes:

Good luck in your adventure and I hope you find relief soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
