Too tight= no weight loss?

Recommended Posts

So it has been 10 months since my surgery, and I am sitting at an incredibly discouraging 30 lb weight loss. I love my band, and would do it all over again, but I am kind of in a slump. I have FAITHFULLY gone to get my fills and exercising, but I think the conclusion I have come to is I have been living band life too tight. (I got the stomach flu last month, and had to get completely unfilled because my stomach was so swollen, and am slowly getting fills ut back in.) I was gagging and getting food stuck alot, and seemed to only be able to eat mushies, or food that easily turned into mush. Has another long term bandster been too tight at some point and had reeeeeaally slow weight loss? And if so, when did you find your sweet spot where you saw steady weight loss? I am in a terrible rut, and would love some advice.

Hi- I had surgery in April & I was not losing weight fast at all. First I was too loose. Then I was too tight. My doctor said you need to fing the GReen Zone. I got an unfill when I was too tight & now finally I am losing weight consistently 1-2 pounds a week.

Wow... I was banded 10 months ago and I've lost more than twice that amount, so something is definitly wrong if you have fills.

What do you eat on a daily basis? The band is not a cure all, there is some diet involved and it sounds like you're not eating the right foods... if you were, the weight would be off.

What does too tight or too restricted feel like?

I got filled yesterday for the 4th time and I am not gagging or vomitting but I am very gassy and can feel everything including liquids (kinda indegestion-like). Is that normal?

I am understanding what eating/drinking slowly means now...just hope its right.

Thanks,

CHER

You cannot compare your journey to anyone else's....If you are basing it on how much weight you have lost...you will continue to feel the way you feel. You need to pay attention to how your body handles your food intake and then decide if you are too tight! I went through this same feeling, and I found solace in reading posts and taking away from the post....My journey is my own, and I need to pay attention to how I am eating! Hence change the way I eat and maintain a regular excercise routine. I hadn't lost weight then when I started paying attention.. I dropped 10 lbs quickly....Hope this helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
