:) HI there,

I am at the same progress as you and finally got some restriction from my 4th fill last Wednesday.

I cannot eat bfast but slowly eating all foods is totally working. Protein shakes is my best way to get Protein in bc I am struggling to get 800 calories a day since Wednesday.

I should totally see some shrinkage now.

I dropped to 226lbs after being at 233lbs for about 2.5 mos.

I was banded on 27 Aug 2008

I am trying to get a ticker tracker but nothing is working for me to get it posted on my posts..

255/226/145

CHER

Gosh you're right, we're almost band twins! Congrats on breaking your plateau! I'm hoping I've broken mine too, I'm actually down 2 more pounds today, a lot for one day so I think I must have been holding onto some fluids yesterday.

To get the ticker just click on anybody's ticker and it will take you to the site. After you make yours it will give you a code to copy, choose user cp at the top, then edit signature on the left side and paste the code in the box. It should show up then.

Yay for onederland ktork! That's so awesome!

i know it only 2 days till this wk weigh in but i need to put this down so i kick my self up the ass.

I'm up 4 lbs.....

I've given up smoking -nearly 2 weeks off them:thumbup:. I thought i would be fine because of the band i wouldn't be able to eat. Instead of smoking im hunting down foods i can eat, so after dinner im heading straight for biscuits. in the evening its crisps / chips. Im not a chocolate lover but im eating it for the sake of it.

So i got another fill today, i have put on a total of 7lbs since xmas eve.

Im starting afresh from today, no more shit foods.

This is where the will power is needed.....

P.S.

For those who haven't done it...

It is horrible having to add lbs to your tracker..

I never want to do that again....

Oh Edel, I'm so sorry that you're struggling. And I have had to add to my ticker. It stinks. And I almost didn't do it. But if I start cheating there, where else will it go? I have to stay accountable even if that means going UP on the ticker.

Congratulations on quitting the smoking. That will be so healthy for you. Your lungs are already healing just in the short time you've quit.

Do you knit, or do puzzles or ??? Maybe take up a new hobby that requires the use of BOTH hands so you can't be snacking with one hand while doing your new hobby with the other! Maybe head outdoors for a walk instead of into the kitchen for a snack. That's all I can think of, sorry!

Hang in there. And good for you for being accountable to yourself and putting it out there. That is half the battle!

Hi Everyone, You guys are all doing great! I am down 36lbs and get my 2nd fill on Feb. 5th! Thank goodness! I have been scheduled and cancelled a couple of times. I'm excercising every other day by walking anywhere from 3 to 5 miles now. That's made a huge difference.

Take care,

ks

Congratulations Edel. You have made another step towards improving your health. I know it is hard but you can do it. I agree with heartfire, try to find something to keep your hands busy or enjoy the great outdoors walking if you can. I will keep you in my prayers. I know how hard it is to change your ticker to a higher number and I hope you can change the direction soon.

edel,

I think that it's hard to quit smoking and quit food (I know because quitting smoking is still one of the hardest things I had to do) so please don't beat yourself up too much. Since you've decided to get back on track, I'm sure that ticker will start to go down again.

ktork, congrats on hitting onederland!!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
