Hello,

This is the first time that I have posted to this site. I have been working on getting my insurance approval for Lap Band for over 6 months now, and I finally have a date of Jan 27th. I have to say that I feel like I have accomplished something. It was a long process for the approval, but i am a differant person than I was 6 months ago when I started. I could have ate McDonald 3 times a day 7 days a week before, now I can not even remember when the last McDonalds meal that I had was. ;)

I would love to talk to anyone who is working towards the same goals I am, either pre-op or post-op.

I was banded yesterday and I am trying to get used to the new and improved me that is about come. I, like you, could have probably eaten at a fast food restaurant everyday of the week. I have come to realize that I would rather be healthy and weigh a bit less, than have some of those foods I once enjoyed so much. I am sure I am swollen some so food is the last thing on my mind right now. I just know that once I am able to eat again, I have to make better food selections and control my portion sizes. Best of luck to you.

I am three months post op. Once you start losing weight and exercising your butt off, well fast food never enters my mind. (at least for me). With the band, once you get some restriction there is just not much things you can even eat at fast food. I am down over 60 lbs and feeling great. infact during the holidays I ate a few brownies which is fine, but it made my stomach upset. once your body gets used to nothing but healthy food and very little sugar your body cant handle it anymore. As my surgeon said to me, once you get it in your head that "food is fuel". Always ask yourself this question, "what benefit do I get out of eating this food". If no benefit, dont eat it. Have a wonderful journey to the new you.;)

Hi there...I am scheduled for the same day as you. I just got my surgery date today. I know what you mean though, about it being a long process. I went to the seminar in July sometime and just now getting the surgery too. Good thing I wasn't dying or anything ha ha. Well good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
