Blow up the scales?

Recommended Posts

Sitting on the same weight for a month is really disheartening. I need to get myself back into some exercise. When the weight is coming off I have no probs motivating myself to exercise...but with it staying the same for so long it has been hard to motivate myself to do anything. Its funny how my day will be judged on what I weigh. If I am happy with what the scales say, I will get dressed up, put some make up on and feel good about myself. If the scales are yucky I will wear my yucky clothes and mope around in a bad mood all day. BLOW UP THE SCALES :(

Anyone else like this?

I'm kind of like that, except the scale hardly ever moves for me. I dread the scales and I hate what I let them do to me and my head.

I don't own a set of scales, nor will I buy a set. I would become obsessed with getting on them. Once I get back to school I will have access to scales in the gym, and it will be hard to reisist them. Of course, that gym also has the equipment I want to use, and excersize classes...

Yeah definately, I weigh nearly everyday and like you if the scales look good I'm a lovely cuddly happy wifey and mother, but if they dont look favourable I turn into mummy Rottweiler. Why do we torture ourselves ? I would love to dump my scales but I think I'm scared if I dont check on myself my weight will run away with me.

Old habbits really do die hard.

I do this all the time. If the scales make me happy, I look great when I walk into the office. If the scales make me frustrated, I'll wear my tracksuit pants to work LOL. Then of course I feel miserable all day cause I look miserable. Its a viscious cycle.

My husband calls me "Frumpy Jess" on days like that heh.

What I dislike even more than that though, is when the scales say I've lost a heap, and then a day or two later, say I've gone back to what it was. Like this morning, they're reading 97.3kgs, when Monday, they were 99.9kgs. I know I haven't lost that much this week lol, so I'll just be p'd off later this week when they show differently.

I used to have this issue. I've been stuck for so long that I've learned that I had to get over it. It was so bad my boyfriend used to harp on me for what I was eating because "I know how upset you get when you gain a pound" haha.

I've started counting every calorie that goes into my mouth instead of just having a basic idea at the end of the day. I was bumping around 1500 calories every day, and that quite obviously isn't low enough for me to lose. Yesterday I was at 1220, and i want to stay within the 1200 to 1300 range. And no, I'm not exersizing either, and I'll tell you why; I did really really good for about a month and a half, exersizing every stinking day, and I was bouncing around 1500 calories a day and it didn't make one bit of difference. So I went on vacation and then came back and never really started up again. I'm very much a person who needs to see results in something I'm doing, or else I don't really feel like doing it, because it's not doing me any good. And yes, I'm fully aware that exersize is good for your heart, etc, and I know I feel better when I'm doing it, but darnit!!! As I'm sure you can all understand :)

Oh, and I'm also obsessed with the scale. I get on the darn thing every stinkin' day (except this week because I'm house sitting for my mom and she doesn't have one). I know it's not going going down, I can be pretty confident that it's not going up, and yet I have to stand there and stare at the same number every day. blarg.

This is why I do not weigh myself everyday anymore

If Iam lucky I weigh once a week, I like it like that.

..

The numbers on the scale should not get you down or dictate your success with the band , think of all of the other things good that have happened since you have been banded..

For me it is more energy, more desire to socialize, feel great!

Smaller size clothing, no knee pain. sleep better, eat better etc.. the list goes on & on

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
