try Dr. John Groves on Wall Sreet in Albertville, Al He actually has an office in Madison I think. He and his partner Dr. Britt have offices at Marshall North, Marshall southin boaz and I hear they have office in madison which cant be that far from you. Dr. John Groves as actually had the Lap Band surgery himself.. so he understands us. My first impression of him was very good. Understanding and he realizes how we feel. Not

someone judging you ! Good Luck and let us know how this turns out for you....

And agreed- Podunk!!!! especialy where I am at !

Thanks, Determined! I'll give his office a call. I can't remember if I'd called before or not. But I think I'm due for my semi-annual round of calls anyway.

Best of luck to you Carole.

I drive 2 hours for fills but if I have an emergency at a strange time I have to go to the home office 4 hours away. I can live with it but the one time I did have an emergency - I can tell you that it was the longest drive of my life.

I have read again and again that the band is not much good without appropriate aftercare. I also don't think living on 600-800 is reasonable for the long term.

I agree with Kat in that there is no reason to remove it if it is not causing you any grief . . . and better options for aftercare are opening up everyday. Demand is growing and people will move in to accomodate the demand.

Good luck.

I called Dr. Groves' office ... and yes they will take me as a patient. Unfortunately the start up cost to join their program is out of my financial reach right now. $1,500.00 just to join their program and then $100.00 for fills. The cost of the fills is no problem but I don't have the cash for the start up fee right now.

Back to the drawing board.

If I had known it would be this hard to find follow up care I would never have chosen the Lap-Band.

have you tried fillcentersusa.com? surely they would be able to find someone close to you. i had surgery in mexico so needed aftercare close to home. i have to drive about an hour and half away, but thats ok. the fillcenter charges 165 and then my doctor charges 99 for the fluoro. i had tried to just make an appt with the doctor myself and they wouldnt because of the contract w/ fillcenters. but i just had to call fillcenters and they set up the appt for you. maybe you can try that.

Wow doctor number two is just unreal. I am so sorry this happening to you. Totally frustrating. I am hoping you don't give up your search and that you find an amazing doctor to help you.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
