Hi Lisa,

Bandster Hell is tough. You have to really focus and stick to the rules given by your doc. Don't pay any attention to those who tell you that you can bend the rules because they're doc lets them. You're only accountable to your doc.

My doc reviews for a fill every 4 weeks. Some docs are 6 or 8 or even more weeks than that. It took me 4 fills to get where I had lasting significant restriction. So for me that was 4 months! But this varies for every person. Some people maintain great restriction immediately post op and never even get a fill. Others it takes 4, 5, or 6 fills to get good restriction. It just takes a lot of patience. Focus and keep your eyes on the road every day. You may fall off the wagon once and a while - we all have - just dust yourself off and get back on immediately.

I actually eat much more than three meals a day, but that's a topic for another time. You have enough to focus on right now.

The band is tough! It's no miracle, and it's not easy weight loss. You must eat right, exercise lots, and stay focused.

Good luck!

Brad

I am losing really slow like you I was banded in June. I've only lost 19.5 lbs. I do really well for a couple of weeks on exercise but then I slack off. I know I am not doing well because I do home daycare and I am a snacker. I am hoping I can stick w/ the exercise so it will move faster. I do weigh daily bc if I can I can catch it before it goes beyond 2 lbs.

I to had some issues with weight loss. i was banded June 27th. I am now down 35lbs but for like 3 mths i absolutely stalled. It has been completely my fault. Bad eating choices, and lack of exercising. I am now going back to the bandster ways, and am exercising at the gym at least 3 x week and im doing liquids, then mushy then solid phase to get my pouch back in to shape.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
