Any advice?

Recommended Posts

I was just banded on the 12th of this month. I haven't had the opportunity to read through all of the threads on this forum, but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me being a "newbie" to all of this. Thanks!!

my advice is get ready for alot of different views on things. So just sit back, rest and take it all in. Everyone on here should be bandsters, but we all have different experiences. Im a very laid back not a sticlar for the Lap Band rules, so I can give advice on that front. But if you are into following the Doctor to the tee, there are plenty of them out there as well.

Go Spurs tonight against the Lakers.

Go Spurs Go !!

p.s. My lap band journey has been great, I love it, and it works for me the way I want it to. No complaints or problems !!

  1. If you have time and feel up to it, while your recovering check out the threads in the post band section.
  2. Give yourself time to recover.
  3. Be patient with yourself as you learn how to work the band.
  4. Try not to compare yourself with other peoples weight loss journeys.
  5. Keep up with your Protein.
  6. Follow your doctors orders

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I have been trying to keep my Protein up and during this liquid phase I honestly feel like I am going to float away! I guess the hardest part is taking time for myself. Oh well, that's one reason why I did this in the first place. :thumbup:Thanks again!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
