Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. regarding recovery time. I am being banded on 2/23 I am in my brothers wedding on 3/7 is this enough time for me to be back to myself and back on my feet to be in the wedding. I do not want to ruin their special day by not being able to perform my bridesmaid duties...Let me know what you think.

Everyone recovers differently, but I would have been up for it. There's no guarantee that you won't have complications, but if you follow all of your doctor's orders, and nothing unforeseen happens, I would think you should be just fine. With that in mind, I would have a backup plan, just in case, since it's such an important day for your brother and his fiancé.

Hiya Jacks!

I would say 2 full weeks, you will feel like a million bucks.

I was banded last Monday (Jan. 5th). It's only been a week and 2 days and I would be up for 4 weddings in a day!

My energy level is through the roof and I can see myself shrinking everyday. (I eat what I'm supposed to and exercise daily).

The only thing I would be concerned about is what size dress you will be in by then! : )

Hi Jennifer thank you so much for your feedback. You sound so happy! That is great! keep it up. I am so worried about the preop liquid diet...making me very nervous...I am sure the wedding will be fine. I just won't strain myself if I don't feel so great.

Thank you. I really hope to not need a back up plan. Will just pray all goes well...

Thanks! I am extremely happy. I've been researching and wanting to get banded for years now - at least 3. My insurance would never pay, so I bit the bullet and paid for it myself. So far, it's the best thing I've ever done.

You have nothing to worry about. Yes, the pre-op diet is rough, but that's the worst part. Just do what you're supposed to do (and what you can) and take it day by day. AFter the first couple days it gets a LOT easier. Your body gets use to it.

Good luck! Keep me posted.

2 weeks post op I felt great. You should be just fine barring any complications. Just follow the instructions your Doctor gives you and should do well. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
