:tongue_smilie:Hi!! I was wondering if anyone had CIGNA insurance and if it was hard getting approved. My plan covers wls so that is not and issue. Just need to follow the 6 month diet and go for tests, same as what the hospital requires.

Thanks!!

We have CIGNA and my wife had to do the following:

6 month supervised diet

provide 2 year attempted diet info

Psych Eval

sleep Apnea Test

Cardio Testing & Clearance

leg scans I think for clots

full spectrum blood work

attend seminars

After the surgery group submitted all the data to Cigna it took around a month for approval.

I am probably missing something but this is what I remember. She was banded in December 2008.

Hi,

I have cigna and I had to do the following:

6 month medically supervised weight loss program

2 years of medically documented being overweight

recommendation of PCP to have weight loss surgery

psychological exam

nutritional assesment

medical clearance letter from pcp ( different letter then the recommendation)

Once that was done, I was approved in 3 days.

Good luck! Don't get discouraged with the long process - it does finally go by, and here I am 3 days post op!

I have CIGNA - had to do the 6 month stuff wtih my PCP, but once done I got approved in less than 48 hours... now I'm just waiting for the paperwork to get to my surgeon's office to get a surgery date! Good luck.

My experience with Cigna was similar to what others have posted. 6 month waiting period, during which time I had to see my PCP monthly so she could fill out a form, psych evaluation, meeting with a nutritionist, EKG, blood tests, Upper GI. Once all that was done, my surgeon's office submitted it to Cigna, and it took a month to get approved. I now have my surgery date set for February 9th :)

Overall, it was a long and discouraging process, but it was worth it to save the $18k - $24k price tag. And now that I'm nearing the end, even better. My only regret is not starting the process sooner!

Good luck to you, jumping through a few hoops now will be worth it later. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
