Hi Doug,

I was banded on April 28, 08 and have lost 91 lbs. I won't lie to you it wasn't easy. What they don't tell you is that it is hard for the first 6 months until you get restriction. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band and have just really started getting good restriction. My hardest problem is not following the rules of Protein first then vegetables. When I do follow this I loose weight. I am from St. Louis and my doctor is Dr. Wagner and he is great. Well good luck.

Sandy

Hi Petlover,

I am from St. Louis and was banded on April 28, 08 and Dr. Wagner is my doctor. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band. I have lost 91 lbs. but it hasn't been easy. I will say this if I follow the rules of Protein first I do loose weight easier. I also walk alot. I really have not gotten to total restriction or what they refer to as the sweetspot but am really finally feeling the restriction. You have to stay focused and realize that this is just a tool and to not get into bad habits of eating things that will go down easy. Good luck and keep in touch.

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time to this site. I was banded on 4-29-08 by Doctor Wagner in St. Louis Mo. he is wonderful. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band. I am not totally there but am getting closer. I have lost 91 lbs. and would do it again in a minute.

I won't say it was easy but it is worth it.

I exercise alot and when following the rules of Protein first I usually do well. I try hard not to go with what goes down easier and try to stay away from junk food which really will defeat me if I let it. I want to be at healthy for the next 50 years of my life. I feel great and pray that I will continue to do so.

Great job so far. This is the hardest time but you will get through it. It takes 4-6 fills to really start getting restriction for most. I havde 7.2 in a 10cc band and can still tolerate most foods can't eat much at a time but can eat often. Junk food goes real well. I had a bad week and have been eating all of the wrong things. I am going to really try hard this week to eat the right food, Protein first and fish and vegetables. I have lost 91 lbs. and had surgery in April. So keep up the good work and if you get discouraged just get on line and we'll try to cheer you up. Remember we were all new at one time and no question is a stupid question.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
