PM snacking... help!!!

Recommended Posts

Being 13 months post op you would think I would be the one of the last people asking this question, but here goes. I have changed shifts on my job (went from graveyard shift to day shift) and have found it VERY hard to keep from snacking after 3 pm. I do good whild I am at work, eating small meals and low calorie meal but after I hit the clock at 3 pm is when I find that I am having problems. I am SO hungry by the time I arrive home that I find myself snacking on everything. I keep low calorie Snacks but this pattern has slowed my weight loss progession down considerably. Any suggestions?

I have a supply of Kashi bars at work that I can grab and eat on my way home so I'm not starving when I get there.

You might try keeping a bunch of sugar free popsicles in the house. Also, if you put four saltines into a little baggie and eat them on your way home from work that should be enough to hold you over, or how about getting some Calcium by having a fat free yogurt just before leaving work.

Good luck.

Hi Brenda: Here is what I do.

I keep raw almonds with me for my in between meal Snacks. I keep them in purse as well, just in case there is a long meeting or I get stuck for hours in commute traffic.

I increase my Protein intake with a some liquid type supplement. This helps keep me full and works great when I am in between fills.

Exercise when I am board and want to start snacking.

I stop watching t.v. which always makes me hungry. All those darn food commercials.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
