Protien causing pimples?

Recommended Posts

Ok I know it sounds crazy but ever since I started using soy and whey Protein I've been breaking out. Now growing up I never really had any problems with it. I'm breaking out now on my arms as well as the obvious, My face. This is Unusual for how my body normally is. Now I tried researching it and everybody who attempts to get the answer im looking for is always told its just body chemistry but i'm getting them on my forearms. Wierd? lol Since us bandsters use protein in everything i figured i could get my best answers here.

I know it was a ridiculous question but thank you for responding. I figured someone else on this site might of had this happen to them. I'm going to have to try something to see if it stops. I heard that its possible that my body is detoxing? lol.:)

Whilst I dont think that the odd Protein shake ever hurt anyone, nothing would induce me to be swallowing them daily. That's a lot of soy to be taking in and it DOES contain phyto-estrogens.

Personally, I think they're a moderation food.

I'm about 2 months out and I'm completely breaking out as well.I was wondering if maybe it was the increased Protein intake or the lack of something else I use to eat also? Mine is bad and getting worse.I'm going to ask my Doc tomorrow,I'll let you know what I find out..........:)

I am having a bit of a problem with it as well. I know it's not shakes with me as I seldom indulge, and I doubt it's Protein as I was on a high protein diet for several yrs with no problems. Perhaps it's the fast initial weight loss or the low calorie intake the body is adjusting to. I'm not sure.

I had the acne problem too for a short time and I never have been big on the shakes because of the taste. Although even when I do have shakes, I avoid the soy. I think for me, the acne was more of a hormonal thing induced by weight loss. It was temporary though.

In my informational seminar I went to my doctor told us that after your surgery your estrogen levels fluctuate so much that your body will go through a lot of hormonal changes. This maybe one of them. She prescribes an estrogen patch in the beginning to help with mood swings that is a result of the sudden weight loss. When I went to research this I couldn't find it anywhere and had to ask the doctor about it. I hope this information helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
