Hey all!

I was just wondering where was the weirdest place on your body where you noticed you had lost weight!

For me it was the outside of my knees. I was sitting with my feet tucked up under me. I looked down and thought "OMG I don't have that bunch of fat there anymore!!" Sounds stupid but I was so excited!!

Well, I always seem to lose weight from the same place first, right around the ribs and my face, but the one place that really lets me know I'm doing better and always cracks me up is my "shelf". It's this bump-out section at the top of my butt that looks like I could carry a tray of food on it or a couple toddlers. When my mom sees me she goes, "Hey, you're losing your shelf!" I turn and go, "Yeah, it's not sticking out that much now, is it?" ha ha ha

Keep up the great work! Congratulations!

The strangest discovery for me would have to be that my shoe size went down 1/2 size. My feet never looked particularly fat but I guess that I even had a little fat to lose there.

My forearms are soooo thin. When I shower, Im like hello whose bones are those!!!??? Also around my hips, I dont remember even having pelvic bones.

Oh yeah, all those bones are hard to get used to. My wrist bones, hip bones, ribs and I actually have collarbones now! And if forget that I have less padding on my behind and sit down too hard on a hard surface, it hurts!

I haven't lost that much yet, but I am noticing that the skin under my armpits is flatter and flabbier (not rebounding well). I really notice it when I lay on my back! Like- what is this crap?!

My feet are already smaller, and my ring is loose (yeah- I may soon be able to wear my wedding ring again!!!)

I can't wear any of my rings properly, and my shoes are loose. I don't think I can actually go down in shoes size (yet), but they are no longer tight. It is funny to me because I always thought my feet were slim, now they are narrow with a fat body on top.

I never realised how pear shaped I really was. I'm a healthy weight now, but I still have plenty on my bottom half, I desire to lose about another 20lb really, and even THEN I would have thighs.

however, the top half, sheesh. I never expected that you would be able to see all my ribs in my chest, or the joint at the tip of my shoulder. YOu could cut yourself on my collarbones, I can make my son just about vomit by tautening all the cords in my neck and my hands and feet show every single tendon as good as any anatomic diagram.

yet, overall, I'm not that "skinny". I'm not skeletal. My hip bones dont stick out much, you cant see all the ribs in my back, etc.

I find i have trouble sleeping on my side though. My knees are too bony to rest on top of one another comfortably.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
