You have no idea how much inspiration you have given me. The idea of being able to run just boggles my mind! I actually had nightmares that something was chasing me and I was frozen to the spot. I physically cannot do it. Walking is ok if the surface is flat, but any incline, no matter how slight, has me huffing and puffing and going into an asthma attack. To be able to run around with my beautiful grandkids - that is something to strive for!!!

Thanks, Wednesday! It's so cool to have this group of people who are as excited about this experience as I am. Few of my real-life circle are really interested, and sometimes it's all I can think about. I'm so glad we have this place to come and share our hopes, dreams, and progress!!

This used to be me also, Lulu!

I was at a point were I couldn't walk my dogs at night because I couldn't see exactly were I was stepping. There were many times that I would step on a tiny pebble in the road and it would put me flat on my face. There was a time, about 6 months preop, that I fell on 4 seperate occasions and either twisted my ankle or did something to my knee or wrist. It was humiliating and frustrating!

It is a long road to recovery, but well worth it! Good luck!

I know what you mean! It is really hard for the people around us when we are obsessed! :D My poor husband has gotten that glassed over look in his eyes many times!

On-line support is very important as well as group meetings either through your surgeons office or from the on-line support meetings. They are not only good ego boosters, but it really helps other preops and postops when they can see someone who has made it work.

You are such an inspiration to me and you help me believe that this band will help me reach my goal. I was wondering any excess skin you might have had after the weight loss. Thanks.

I am glad that my story can inspire and give hope! :D

I actually faired pretty well on the loose skin. I have noticed lately that as I approach my goal weight that the skin is getting looser, especially on the butt/thigh area. I have a consult with a Plastic Surgeon next month just to see what my options are. If it doesn't pan out then I will be ok with how I turned out...though a part of me will be upset.

Can I ask how old you are? I'm going to have a big problem with loose skin, I think--but I could be wrong. The last time I lost a lot of weight it didn't even occur to me, but of course I was only 30 then (and the weight didn't stay off very long, anyway).

But 11 years and two children later, my stomach skin already has a mind of its own. I'm hopeful it's not a foregone conclusion that I'll need plastic surgery to cure hideous rashes! :sick

Wednesday,

I will be seeing Dr. Rosenthal at Cleveland Clinic on 8/13! I just hope I'm as successful as you have been!

Keep up the GREAT work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
