kidney issues on pre-op diet?

Has anyone had any kidney issues on the high Protein diet? I had alot of nausea in the beginning and the nutritionist said it wa likely ketones and needed to be flushed, now I have a swollen ankle out of the blue. No trauma, just bizarre. My surgery is next week and I have so much to do, I guess I need to try and see my primary care Physician sometime. Any one else have these issues?
