Anyone else have this happen?

Recommended Posts

Last night I went to bed, when I rubbed my incisions and what I thought was a little scab was actually my internal stitches coming through...And I was like it felt like that on the other side too, and sure enough the stitch had come through that incision too! I was told just to clip them off, but it's just weird to me....Was told that they would dissolve in about 3 months..It felt like fishing line to me..Was wondering if this happened to anyone else??!OH, had surgery dec 19th..:cursing::lol:

Yes. Happened to me too. It's a dissolvable suture. It's no big deal. Clean it, clip it at the skin site, and don't worry about it unless there are signs of infection.

Best wishes!

I think it's just the body's way of pushing out foreign objects. Kind of creepy though!

The same thing happened to me. I was scratching the incision when this clear, hard stitch came through. It scared me but I just pulled on it and clipped it. The rest disappeared inside.

Same here. I cleaned some nail clippers with alcohol and clipped it. When I went back, the doctor was able to cut it closer. It stayed for almost 2 months before it finally dissolved It does go away.

I had a couple of the sutures pop through too. They were snagging my knit tops and were uncomfortable. My doctor's office said I could come in for them to cut them off, or I could do it myself. They said to never tug at the sutures though. I took a pair of nail clippers, sanitized them and my incision with alcohol, and snipped them off. It was no big deal, and it felt much better. The site healed great, and I didn't notice the little bits of sutures that were left after I clipped them.

The nurse told me to pull a bit and to cut, well one of them had/has the knot coming through my skin. Well I cut it past the knot. So far o good.LOL! Then the other side I didn't cut short enough so now I have an irritating stich poking me,clothes. It's to short to cut again.. I know it kinda freaked me out at first..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
