The "Voice" is back...

Recommended Posts

I was banded in September 2007. I have lost a total of 60 pounds and was doing wonderfully. I loved the feeling that I wasn't thinking about food every minute of the day and was enjoying the changes in my body. I have not lost weight in over two months, thanks in part to the holidays. I am not really ever hungry, so I don't think I need a fill. However, since I have been eating more, I have started thinking about food subconsciously, just as I did before the surgery. I have been snacking all the time. I just cannot get a hold of it. I also feel that since I have passed my one year anniversary, my doctor just doesn't care anymore as to how I do. I was expecting a little more from him I guess. I know I have to pull it together somehow. Is there anyone out there who is going through the same thing?

Oh how i wish i had the answer for this. I live with the voice every day. I wish i knew how to be one of those people who don't obsess about food. I have been debating long and hard about seeking councelling for this exact thing. I will say on a positive note however that when im filled properly i am unable to cave into the "i want to eat everything voice" inside my head. Perhaps a good fill would get you back on track?

I've been banded 14 months now. I've lost 70 so I'm about where you are. I did very well right up until last August when I had to have my gallbladder removed. I haven't lost one ounce since. I haven't gained, thank God, but I haven't lost either. I had to have a complete unfill and start all over again. It sucked, so I'm way behind. I just got a fill last Friday, and now I'm finally back where I had left off, so I should start losing again. I have 40 pounds left to go, and am so anxious to get it over with. I too have had the hunger monster nagging at me. My tummy actually growls. It's hard to ignore. Even other people can hear it!! Snacks after work are my weakness. I do good all day, and then when I get home from exercise after work, I'm ravenous. I can't wait the 1 to 2 hours before dinner is ready. So I hit the nuts, chips, crackers, cheese and Cheeze Its. I have got to get a handle on that. My doctor says to eat more at lunch, but I just can't. It won't fit in my pouch. So what do I do???? I'm hoping this last fill will fix the problem. Good luck to you. Hang in there!

Thank you. I am not sure about a fill right now. I am tight in the morning through lunch and it seems my window of eating is from 1pm until about 9pm. If I do eat earlier or later I will PB. I don't know what is wrong. I thought that the voice was gone but evidently was just biding its time.

I was banded in May of 08 and the voice has never left me, not even for a minute. I hope yours will go away again...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
