Slippage and now repair

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here in sooooo very long but recently I found out that my band has slipped and i have to go back in to have it corrected on 1/28. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect. My Dr says it's basically the same procedure all over again, same surgery minus the port scar, same diet but she couldn't tell me about continued weight loss.

I'm just wondering if anyone has continued to loose after revision surgery. I was banded on 12/21/06 and at my best had lost 80lbs but have since gained back about 15 due to poor eating habits due to the slippage. Any insight as to what I could expect would be greatly appreciated. I am alittle apprehensive about this surgery but I know it needs to be done.

Thanks in advance

Sorry that I can't answer but could you post on how you came to know your band slipped? I mean, were you having symptoms or something? Or did your doc just find it?

I had had bad reflux for awhile. The Dr. unfilled and filled my band several times, it was ok for awhile but then happened again. She finally sent me for a barium swallow test and saw the slip.

I am in the process of "healing" a slipped band. I had an unfill on January 2nd and go back in on January 28th. Hopefully it will be all good...and I can get the band filled again.:)

Good luck to you!!

Cindy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
