Anyone use Dr. Daniel Davis, New York, NY or Ridgewood NJ

Recommended Posts

I am considering using Dr. Daniel Davis for my lap band. I have read alot of good things when searching online about credentials. But never heard of anyone's personal experience. I would appreciate any info anyone can share.

I used Dr. Davis in Aug. and I'm very happy. He was recommended by my internist and it ends up that the only other person I know personally who had lapband also went to Dr. Davis. I felt great immediately after surgery. Have not had a single day of difficulty since. Was out walking the next day. You don't really see the doctor ever again after surgery. Instead you see his nurse practitioner who takes care of post op visits and fills. Can't tell you any negatives about my experience

I went to him, in New Jersey and hated his office staff so I did not use him and had it done elsewhere.

Hi There!

I'm scheduled with Dr. Davis on 2/18 for surgery! I have my first meeting with him on 2/11, but his office staff and NP have been wonderful so far!! He came highly recommended from a friend of mine who is a OR nurse at Valley Hospital. Good Luck!!

While my interaction with Dr. Davis only consists of a few phone conversations, I have operated on several of his patients after they lost weight. All these patients have had nothing but positve things to say about him and his staff. I also agree that his entire bariatric team is very professional as well. I have met most of them, because I have spoken at several of his support groups at both Valley Hospital and Lawrence Hospital.

Great info. Maybe I will be one of your future patients, Dr. Schulman, I am leaning towards having the lap band done with Dr. Davis. If all goes well, weight comes off, then I am sure I will need to look at having some reconstructive surgery. I had my first meeting with Dr. Davis' staff (Rodgewood Office). I loved his NP, a real down to earth guy who I felt very comfortable with.

My PCP has referred me to this group of doctors. They seem very nice over the phone. I have attended the seminar. This week I go for my psych eval and support group. Next week I have my appointment with Dory Ferraro. I hope all goes well and that I am almost at the end of the preop and can be post op very very soon. I am so worried about the insurance approval....

Ill keep you posted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
