sandibly 0 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Hi i've been on this journey for some time, and it is hard to beleive that i am coming down to the end. I remember going to my informative class in May, started my Nutrition classes in July, and then got accepted to the PREP study in August. it is a study to see if more intense involvement will help increase the success of the lapband. I was given a Diet/life coach that for the first two months i had to see in person every week, now i have to talk to her on the phone weekly and visit every 3rd. I must say that I know that this is a journey, so i am taking my time and enjoying the journey. I've spent months learning how to eat and work with the lap band. I will be a part of this study before, during and after surgery, I stopped drinking pop in July.......now i don't crave/need it, ... i have routinely taken my Vitamins since July, therefore i don't need to incorporate that "new" habit after surgery....... get the picture....... Life is a Journey, slow down and enjoy it...... I am:thumbup: Edited January 11, 2009 by sandibly
Mr. Green 3 Posted January 12, 2009 Never heard of the PREP study. I am having surgery in at Magee and I can relate to all the work you are doing. One thing I can admit is that I am not going into this without a ton of information. If it is out there, I have read or researched it to the fullest. I am like you, going to quit it now than suffer later (pop, caffeine, etc.). Need to make a change so things are not so rough later.
tweety305 0 Posted March 17, 2009 I am also from the Pittsburgh area and going to Magee's for my surgery. I have my informational session on March 24th in Cranberry Township. I am ready for this journey. I started it back in 2004 with Magee's to have the gastric bypass done. Then my insurance had changed and wouldn't cover it. I switched jobs in 2005, and just recently found out that the insurance we have here does cover it. I never gave up my dreams, just has taken awhile to get there. The only thing that changed was going from the gastric bypass to having the lapband done. And this time it will happen for me. As far as the PREP program, never heard of it before. Good luck on your journey!
