MrRiceGuy 1 Posted January 11, 2009 Hello All! My name is RJ and I'm a MO person in Ridgecrest, CA. I've been on the forums for a couple days (weeks?) researching Lap Band results, and I must say I'm impressed. I went in for my first free seminar on Wednesday, Jan 7 with Dr. Michael Feiz. He did an especially good job to get me hyped up to get a band and lose weight. Who would have thought a surgeon would be such a good sales man? Anyway, I don't have an exact date for my procedure at this point, but the wheels are in motion, and chances are I'll be banded with a Realize Band within the next month. My insurance is covering all but $4000... is that normal? Seems like it's a little over priced with this doctor. Anyway, I'll post my updates as I get them. All in all, I'm happy to be in this community and support and share my experiences with all.
MacMadame 81 Posted January 11, 2009 Welcome to LapBandTalk! It's hard to say if it's normal because it's going to depend on your insurance. Mine is a co-pay deal if you stay in network. So it wouldn't be normal for me (assuming it actually covered WLS, that is). But if you have to pay a percentage, it might be. And if it's a program fee, well, those range all over from as little as $300 to a high of $7500. Hope that helps!
MrRiceGuy 1 Posted February 11, 2009 Holy heck! I already got my insurance verification as of Monday. I'm getting banded this Friday. It all seems to be going so fast, now. I'm a little nervous.
