Sabotaging myself...in my dreams!!!

Recommended Posts

Since being banded I've been faithful about sticking to portion sizes, healthy food choices, Water intake, etc. But for the past week, every night I've dreamt that I'm shoving food into my mouth like I'll never eat again! Last night I dreamt I was at an outdoor party, and there were hundreds of cakes. Everywhere I looked there were the most beautiful cakes, every flavor and shape and size that you can imagine. One cake was underneath a milk chocolate fountain! It was like I was at Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. I sampled every cake and then some. I'm surprised I didn't take a dip in the fountain! I'm wondering - what is my subconscious tapping into? I don't feel deprived, in fact I've eaten bites of my mom's homemade chocolate cake (my favorite) since I've been banded. Has anyone else experienced self-sabotaging dreams like this?

LOL, I have not had any dreams like that but I think I would like to!

Great job on your weight loss and go have a bite of cake!

I too have had these dreams. I am seriously surprised by them and when I wake up it takes me a minute to realize it was just a dream and I am thankful it was only a dream and that I did not really just eat a double quarter pounder and fries from Mcdonalds.

I have been banded a little of 2 months and am still having these dreams about once or twice a week and like you I am not really feeling deprived in any way.

Hi,

I used to have the same recurring dream and it would always be when I was really following my diet, not when I was cheating or wanted to cheat. I had this dream when I used to diet pre- band and during this journey.

I have been having the same problems lately!! Really vivid dreams about drinking soda, and other bizarre stuff. I haven't had soda since early fall, and stopped eating sugar before my surgery (11/24/08) but for some reason these dreams keep happening.

I'm just trying really hard not to do it in real life. Sometimes my mother tells me that when you have dreams about something, it could be your body's way of telling you you're missing something. For Example, if you're craving sweets, your body might need to get more Protein.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
