Too tight???

Recommended Posts

I had my band inserted in Feb of '06. I have lost 40 lbs and have 20 -30 lbs more to lose. I have an Inamed (9.75cm?) 4 cc band and struggle constantly. Is this normal or all wrong?

When I wake up, I usually have some mucousy settlement in my pouch. I work on my coffee or tea all morning. Cannot drink Water freely, but a few sips only.

By late afternoon, I have chicken broth, followed by a heavier Soup, this opens me up to drink 20 oz. of fluids and extra water.

Then for dinner, maybe more broth, then I can have some bites of meat or Pasta, but Usually some crispy foods, like crackers or chips with dressing or someting.

Never salad or veggies.

Then I take my pills and go to bed.

Everthing must be really wet with oils or sauce.

I can never eat Breakfast, so when I go skiing or something I feel weak a lot. I am at 2.6 cc only. I cannot get below 170 lbs. If I get an unfill, I shoot up to 180 lbs. I am 5'6" and weigh 173 lbs STILL!

Sounds like to me your living on liquids for the most part.

You said when you wake up you have sinus drainage ?

do you take anything for that ? Sinus drainage /allergies can cause issues with your band.

Are you getting too large of an unfill when you get unfills ?

It does sound like your too tight. I am very sensitive to fills. So if I get say a .50 cc unfill when i go back for a fill i get .25 put back in .

Feel free to email me if you want coltonwade@gmail.com

i think you are too tight. You could have the slightest bit removed. Most people do find that when they are able to eat solid Protein, they actually lose better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
