travelinsnorkel 0 Posted January 10, 2009 I got my second fill yesterday and I think that I actually have some good restriction. I am trying to drink a Protein Drink and it is making me full after just a few sips! Woohoo!

yvettej4123 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Restriction is something that we all look forward to but it is not easy to deal with. This is where all the discipline (chewing each bite slowly) comes in. I got a fill on 1-2-09 and was back in the office to have .2 cc removed because I could not keep anything down. Make sure that you are able to eat at least 3/4 cup of food so that you can get the required Protein and nutrients for your body.
travelinsnorkel 0 Posted January 10, 2009 I was a little worried about getting my meds down this morning, but so far so good. I'm on liquids today, then will start mushies tomorrow. I'm adding the Unjury to my Soups for the extra Protein.< /p>

trubleu 0 Posted January 12, 2009 I just had my 3rd fill and.....WOW!!.... do I have restriction for the first time. Now I need to sort out fullness from being "stuck". As mentioned above, now I must really practice discipline in small bites, eating slowly and chewing extremely well. I didn't get past my first bite tonight at dinner. So I know I wasn't full but I sure was stuck. It took over an hour and several barfs to get beyond the really uncomfortable feeling. Every time I took a breath, it got worse. Please understand, I am not complaining. This is what I wanted, the very reason I did this. I just hope my experience helps others so they don't experience this intense discomfort. This is serious stuff, not to be taken lightly. Since this is the 1st restriction I have had in over 4 months I needed to learn the hard way. Good luck everyone. gingerbug 3 Posted January 12, 2009 To echo what yvettej4123 said, take care of your restriction. Eat the amount the doc or nurse told you and chew well. It takes discipline but the end result is worth it!!

I met someone in the waiting room who had become seriously stuck and was in pain in the middle of the night. He rang the specialist who said to drink coke, (not diet). It starts to dissolve the food and helps it to bubble up. It worked, but still took an hour. I thought this would be handy to know.
travelinsnorkel 0 Posted January 13, 2009 I thought carbonation was bad...I guess it is OK in moderation? I've also heard pineapple juice has the same effect...
alisalvo 1 Posted January 13, 2009 I don't know, just that was the medical advice given to save them a long drive in the middle of night. I suppose it might be OK for medicinal purposes only?
kjhack 3 Posted January 19, 2009 I had my first fill in December 3cc in a 10cc band. I have zero restriction. I can eat anything. I go in for my second fill on Monday! Thank goodness. I am trying so hard to stick to the portion sizes, but not doing so great. Hopefully after tomorrow, I will be doing much better. Good luck all.
