lvnpeaches 0 Posted January 9, 2009 My surgery is Monday and I have the sniffles. I called the surgeons office but they are off this afternoon. I called the surgical nurse who called me on Monday but all I get is her voicemail. I called my GP but got voicemail. I'm pretty sure what I have will be gone by Monday but I don't know what to do. I'm on day 8 of the liquid diet and it is so hard to think that the surgery may be canceled. I'm not sure what I want from y'all. Maybe reassurance that everything will be okay if I have the surgery on schedule or not. Thanks for "listening" anyway, it felt good just to get it out. RestlessMonkey 7 Posted January 9, 2009 Do you have allergies? Could it be that? It's ok to take an allergy medicine if you have them and have taken it before (just follow your directions for nothing by mouth etc before surgery, of course!) Otherwise, you've done all you can. If you are too congested or have a fever, they'll delay it. (but that's for your safety; you want to come through it all fine!) On the bright side staying well hydrated (with LOTS of water) will be good for you! :grouphug:

PATCHELTON 0 Posted January 9, 2009 The Friday before my Tuesday surgery I came down with a slight cold. I called but I said I thought it would be over by Monday (it was) but they postponed my surgery a week. I too was on the liquid pre-op; I just stayed on it an extra week. Not enough time to stop and start it again, so I toughed it out. Actually lost 25 lbs on the pre-op liquids. The delay is for your benefit. I believe there is more risk of respiratory complications so anesthesia will not put you under if they think you are sick. I survived; you will too. Turn yourself in. lvnpeaches 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks everyone, I guess I'm more nervous than I thought. No one has called me yet so if they don't and I feel good I will be there.
TQUAD64 9 Posted January 9, 2009 I started off this week with sneezing and head cold. I had to go to work and commute too. But every night this week when I arrived home I crawled into bed and rested. No exercise, lots of fluids, Water OJ, and Vitamins. All I can say is get as much rest as you possibly can and let your body recover from whatever it is you caught. Resting really helps. Plus, fluids works wonders too. If you cannot drink OJ, then take Vitamin C. I really hope you get your surgery!!!
