maryharry 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Has anyone experienced hiccups a year after surgery? If you did what did you do to get rid of them?
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted January 10, 2009 Are they hic ups that come when you start getting full? A lot of people will get hic ups as a sign to stop eating. I am not sure if that is what you are experiencing. I know my brother and dad get them that last for weeks. They have to take a muscle relaxer before bed to get them to stop. maryharry 0 Posted January 12, 2009 These hiccups are not associated with eating. Have your brother and father been banded?
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted January 12, 2009 No, they have not. I don't know why they get them and can't get rid of them. I do get a hic ups when I am eating and I am getting full. They call this a soft stop. If you're not getting them while you're eating or when you're getting full, it may not be band related. I would try calling either your surgeon or your regular doctor. aubrie 6 Posted January 13, 2009 I get hiccups whenever I've eaten enough. If eat even one more bite once I start to hiccup, I'm in the bathroom with some nasty slime and a PB. I'm over a year out, so yes, I still get them. For me it's a friendly little warning signal.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted January 14, 2009 That's what I was talking about when I said it's what they call a soft stop. If you don't stop when you get a hicup, it's going to be a problem. Mary said her hicups are not related to eating though, so it may not be band related. Some people just get them and I am not sure why.
