Sounds to me like you need to make an appt with your nutritionist and maybe your therapist. I know a good therapist can really help with that head hunger and learning to recognize when you're "not hungry" vs when you are stuffed.

AND sorry you can't eat rice! I'm lucky; it goes down ok for me. I just try not to choose it too often; don't think it packs enough nutrition :)

hello Tracie, how long has it been since you had surgery?

I'm about 2months and 2weeks post-op and i'm not an expert but i do know that...

#1- RICE is a NO, NO it swells in your stomach(small stomach)!

#2- it almost sound like you need a fill if you have not had one, seem like your restriction is GONE !

you probably should try to weight your food out,so you will see how much you are eating. also try chewing slower and after 15min you should start to feel full, if not before hand. everyone is different so what may work for me may not work for you, but i hope it helps some what. hang in there, once you learn your band it's amazing!

Actually she should check with her doc .... we're told rice (and Pasta, which also swells) are ok as long as eaten in small quantities and cooked well done. I've had both in small amounts with other foods and had no ill effect...NOT to countermand any physicians orders! Do what your doc says...if he says no rice, no rice. If he says well done, well done! But it isn't a "no no" for everyone.

Why not try measuring out the portion you should be eating and put that on your plate. When its GONE your DONE! I find if its not infront of me i will not eat it. For example when dining out, when the food arrives i ask for a to go box right away and take all but what i am going to eat off my plate before i even start.

Try eating your food a lot slower. That way you will feel the fullness before it is too late:thumbup:

I don't know if this helps, but my nutritionist says to stop eating when you are "no longer hungry" instead of when you are full. Good luck to you! I know you must be frustrated.

RestlessMonkey- i was told no rice/pasta but did learn i could have small amounts, but since i love it and it's probably my biggest problem i like to continue to think of it as something i just can't have:closedeyes: i do better with it that way.

TracieDuquette - when you said you can't have a fill until 8weeks out from surgery, that means you are in what they call "BANDSTERS HELL" the time period of no restriction and no fill. you should still measure out your food, visit a nutrionist, and eat slower until you get your 1st fill!

Tyme2getrite: Sorry you can't eat it! And that your doc told you NO! It's always safest, rather than to assume a food is taboo, to ask our docs/surgeons/team..for example, mine says ok if well done, yours says no. It amazes me the variation in "rules". You need to do what works for you and what your doc says, of course!

My doctor states we can eat all the foods (including rice) we did prior to banding except a lot less of them.

To the original poster. Eat slowly so your mind can really sense when you are full. Chew your food completely and don't watch t.v., read, drive, listen to the radio, or play on the computer when eating. These activties tend to distract you from knowing when to stop eating or knowing when you are full.

let me correct myself on what i said earlier about eating rice. CHECK WITH YOU DR. FIRST !!!! everyone and everybody's Dr. is different . i only brought up rice because that's what TracieDuquette stated she had for dinner and it made her ill. RICE may not be for everyone and maybe it's not for TracieDuquette. :cursing:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
