Hello all,(I posted this in the other forum but figured since this has been seeing more views i can share my success here)

Just wanted to post my success story to show the differences this procedure can have. On November 20th 2006 I had the lapband done at NYU hospital by Dr. Renn. (Note she has been in the papers recently with some scandals and such but won't go into that.) I weight 430 pounds before having surgery. 4 years later I am now down to 205 pounds and have had a full body lift.

I had my arms, chest, stomach, back, and inner thighs lifted by Dr. Capella in New Jersey and just wanted to show you guys that are thinking about the procedure or are wondering what hard work and devotion to a life style change can show you

That was the old me @ Octoberfest at a friends house. Biggest i ever was.

Though it is blurry...this is me down 215 pounds but before my skin reduction surgery

This is me a few days ago trying on clothes for the first time in an "Express" clothing store. Though this was a joke picture...that is a designer SMALL shirt that I am trying on.

Just wanted to show you guys that it is definitely possible to have success with this surgery but requires a lot of hard work. The band is a tool...not the solution

I posted this in the other before/after thread, but I was so damn proud if it I had to post it here too. This is the first thread I found when I joinded LBT and I have been wanting to be able to add my progress here as well. Looking at the before, after, and progress pictures really helped motivate and support me while I was trying to get the band.

Great pics!!! You are right where I am and where I want to be! Makes me feel good! Do you do anything EXTRA good (eat certain things, strict diet, exercise forever) to get where you are now?

You know, I really don't do anything extra special. I eat the same things the rest of my family eats, for the most part, just in a lot smaller ortions. With the exception of the nights they have a rice based meal, or something else my band just doesn't tolerate. If I'm cooking, I'll try to get healthier food in to the meal as a whole, but generally nothing extra special. I do have to admit, I am a total foodie. I love to cook. I'm fine with having just a small taste which is great, but doen't work for everyone. I love finding new recipes to try. It's getting me to try more vegetables, which is good. Asparagus is my new fave :)

As for working out, personally I hate cardio, and do the bare minimum, and lately I've been focusing more on weights. That's been one of teh big things for me; I always do better when I'm going to the gym regularly. Other than that, I do everything the same it seems.

What about you? Have you done anything extra special?

All I can say is WOW!!! I am new to this site. I wished that I'd found it 2.5 years ago. I need to be motivated. I recently had a baby and have gained 20 lbs since delivery, and I only gained 16 during my pregnancy.

This is way late, but whatev. :)

I haven't had my surgery yet but I do have a date! (May 4!) I am going to try to workout as much as possible too, but I am pretty terrible at it now. I'm hoping getting some weight off will motivate me to do it more since right now when I work out it just hurts :(

Anyway! Congrats on your loss so far!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
