What should I say to Doctor???

Recommended Posts

ccl - we talked about the unfill; that put you in a huge disadvantage in having the band work and was unnecessary. tell that to your DR. let him know you went backwards in this process - and you need him to help move you forward.

withholding fills for any reason is sabotage in my mind - i joked when i was going every 3-4wks for a fill that i paid for a 10cc band and if i need 10ccs' FILL ME UP... again, joked - but was serious as well.

suzanneg - i know what your saying. it takes an awful lot of discipline for me to stay under 130 & a lot of time in the gym. i'm up/down 4lbs all the time it seems; tad annoying - but i'll take it.

lu...I know what you mean & I went in there yesterday with disappointment all over my face & he even said he could see it in my eyes. He is actually a very good surgeon & cares about his patients, took the time to call Allergen(?) & talk to the head guy concerning my case. Doc told me that he was told to take it slow as to not create anymore trauma to the area that was still healing from the unfill situation. (I DID need to be unfilled completely come to find out) He had the surgery center (where they do fills because of the flouroscope) send pics of my last fill to his office so he could show me where there was still a weak area that needed to heal & being agressive could possibly cause more damage or even another surgery. I certainly don't want that so I left feeling better.

He did give me a script for some phentermine though. Since I get my fills at JourneyLite free for life (thank God) he said he wants me there on his surgery day in 2 wks & will do my fill so that he can make sure everything is good & will fill me with as much as possible whereas the center can only put in 1cc max at a time, I think.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
