Does post surgery surgery always=unfill?

Recommended Posts

I will be having a surgery this week 5 months after lap band for some uterine issues I have been having. I talked with the nurse at my dr office and she said I did not need an unfill, however, it did not seem as if she ask the dr. What has been your experience with surgery after beeing banded? Are there any risks or issues I should know of?

Hi there  I had a port revision 5 months after my initial surgery, they unfilled my band for the surgery and I made sure to ask before the surgery if they would put it back in? Even when I woke up from my surgery one of the first things I asked was if they put my Fluid back in? They had :)

I just had my hysterectomy on December 22nd. I was told I didn't need an unfill by my band surgeon and my gynecologist. I wish I wouldn't have listened. I was too tight after surgery and just now, am almost back to normal. If your abdomen is sensitive to fills and if you had some restriction just from having the lap band placed (like me), then you should probably unfill. If you aren't that sensitive to getting fills anyway, then you may be fine. Go with your gut instict.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
