Struggling nine-month after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was banded on 3/31/2008; was doing well at first until my first fill when my doctor realized my port had flipped. Had a lot of pain in my abdomen but continued to lose weight. By Sept 2008, I was down from 270 to 228 lbs. To make a long story short, I started slacking on my exercise and was eating soft foods there were high in calories and drinking wine. By the time I saw my surgeon again I was back to 242lbs in Nov. 2008. By 11/21/08, my port was sewed back into place. I've been watching would I eat and feel alot better physical but mentally it's starting to get to me that I'm not losing like I was. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated, even if it's "tough love" comments.

I am also looking for a lap band buddie to communicate with, I figured maybe if I had a partner, this will get better.

Thanks!

I am just not feeling like I could give you tough love comments! Instead I am going to just give you nice love comments

You will get back on track, you need to trust in yourself and your band, start tracking your foods, commit to a little exercise and just be kind to yourself

So someone else will probably give you tough love but I just understand your feelings and feel like you do frequently and just don't have it in me today

Don't give up. You have come so far and now that your port is fixed you can really work the Band. Keep up on your Protein, so you can feel full. And don't forget to exercise. You will get there. Remember you did not gain the weight over night. It takes time to lose it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
