biggest loser - '09

Recommended Posts

BTW, I'll probably get lambasted for this, but I saw a commercial for one of the chain gyms (Ballys? 24 hour Fitness?) that shows Allie jogging. I think she looks kinda gross. Fire away.

How old is she? Her body looks 20 something but her face looks closer to 50. Facelift time!

I'm going!!!! I saw the ticker at the bottom and already told DH I was going. I'm wearing my tightest and shiniest shirts - it seems that's what they pick from the crowd.

I haven't looked up the times, but I will. I'm going early and staying all day if I have to.

Really? I don't think you're anywhere near big enough to get picked.

Purple Daughter: You were my #2 and now you're not even in my vicinity. Yeah, let's see you 3 years down the road. Mmhmm...

Bob: Shut up and stop your crying, it's making me sick.

Ripple Dad: Please go home.

There's something about that purple daughter that's always rubbed me the wrong way from day one. Can't stand her.

Bob - you're such a pu$$y.

Yucky daddy, just go away.

I totally want to go, here is the info off of Channel 2 News:

HOUSTON -- "The Biggest Loser," NBC's hit weight-loss reality show that changes lives, is coming to Houston to look for possible contestants. The show is looking for outgoing and charismatic people who have the desire and competitive edge to vie for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change their lives forever and to compete for $250,000. They are casting for both individual competitors and teams. An open casting call will be held on Saturday, March 7, at Dave and Buster's, 7620 Katy Freeway, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Show representatives will do their best to see the first 500 people in line. They asked that people not line up more than three hours before the start time.Bring a non-returnable photo of yourself to the casting call. Contestants must be 18 years of age and a legal resident of the U.S.

Do you have a partner? Or are you trying out on your own? I want to - but I think I would have a better chance of getting it if I had a partner - seems all their shows are going that way.

I can't talk anyone I know into it - they are all like - OMG, no, and let people see me in those clothes and see how much I weigh.

I would totally do it. I am trying to get back to Houston area in time to go - I have a funeral tomorrow out of town - so it may get sticky.

Take lots of pictures of the lines and such - so everyone can see what it is like.

Hope to see you there!!!!

They've had strangers on there before and you and someone from here could be lb strangers or something catchier sounding than that

I'm mystified why you guys would want to go on the show. The only plus I could see was having access to the gym 24/7 and nothing else to do. But everything I've read says that they don't teach them how to eat healthy and that they do a lot of unhealthy stuff to keep the weight loss up -- such as taking diaretics and purges before weigh in and crap like that. Plus you'd be stuck in a house 24/7 with a bunch of strangers having your every moment filmed and producers and story editors running around trying to create fake drama.

The only reality show I'd go on would be The Amazing Race because you'd at least get to see cool countries and do interesting challenges. Okay, who wants to be my partner on The Amazing Race? :)

Mac - I agree. I could never do it.

1. I could never put myself on national TV in the outfits they make you wear at weigh in.

2. I'm way too much of a rebel to follow their rules and be cut off from the rest of the my life (much less the rest of the world).

3. Believe it or not, I'm a very private person and to have cameras follow me around every minute of the day to record my every mood, thought or action would cause me to go postal on the camera people.

The idea that my job would be to workout and eat right and no other responsibilities would be awesome! I wouldn't be excited about wearing the oh-so-cute outfits, but when I think back about Allie and Michelle - I can't even remember what they looked like before - it is the after that I remember.

I think it would be terribly difficult to be away from my family for that long - but the payoff would be fantastic. You are talking to an Army Brat and Air Force Wife - so I have lots of experience with being away from loved ones for long periods of time.

I have heard "us" talk about how they don't teach them healthy eating - but I have never seen or heard that anywhere else (other than speculation). I think there is a lot that goes on that we don't see - and the producers want you to keep the weight off long term - so you can be their poster child - so I bet they teach a lot more than we think.

I would do it for the gym/trainer access 24hours a day. No job, no hubby, no phones just working on making yourself healthier. I think it would be awesome (minus the weighing in and unflattering clothes, and editing, of course) Plus I would have the band to keep me from gaining it back! I keep thinking they wouldn't let a LB person on there - but who knows

I keep my hopes high that we will get a contestant that has had WLS and isn't a moron!

I have read that in many places when former contestants are interviewed. They talk about how they are given all these weird, healthy foods but no guidance on how to cook them. They also talk about the tricks they pull to have a good weigh-in. It's all from people who have been on the show on multiple seasons.

I don't want a WLS person to be on the show. WLS is supposed to be the last option after one has tried "dieting" and exercising and failed again and again and/or succeeded only to gain it back again. As many of the contestants on that show can attest, they've regained weight after losing it on the show. WLS and BL don't mix and it sends out very confusing messages to those who don't understand what WLS is supposed to be about.

well they're presenting WLS in an unflattering light given the dad who has gained after his gastric, the least they could do is have a positive wls story....but that is not going to happen in my opinion. i sure would like glouc to make it though!!!

A couple of weeks ago Bob gave a meal tip and I realized how differant we banders are from the people Bob was talking to. He said to start by eating the lowest calorie count foods at meal time such as your salad then something else and the meat last. It seems so unhealthy to eat in that manor to me. Granted I drink additional Protein but trying to cut out my main course and typically the protein just didn't make sense for me or anyone else but I'm sure it makes sense to someone.......

Son't get me wrong I really look forward to watching the show each week but theres something else that bugs me. I've looked for seaon one episodes and can't find them anywhere. Every show good or bad is now on dvd but now bl. Could it be that they want people to forget, was that one winner who put it all back on? Pennies worth

What's good for WLS patients isn't necessarily what's good for the rest of the population. Keep in mind WLS patients have limited amounts of food they can intake (or it should be limited) whereas, those that have normal stomaches can still eat huge amounts of food. Eating the low cal, high volume, high Fiber foods is a way to "fill" up on the lowest amount of calories so that they can feel satiety. I just don't think one can compare WLS patients' diets to the rest of the population.

I'd do it just for the laughs. Heck, I'd go the scale wearing just a sock, a la the chili peppers. Picture brown ripple dad wearing only just a sock. Now put my face there. It's me, America!!

Okay, who wants to be my partner on The Amazing Race?

I will! Mac- the big city sophisticate, together with Plain- the rual redneck. Can this unlikely pair conquer the world? Or will their diametrically held political views tear the team apart? Tune in and see.....

Glouc, I'll be your partner!! If we're picked we can rip on the other contestants and ridicule Bob for being so damn weepy!!

Yes, I did notice that myself and had to make a comment like... wow, that's really backwards.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
