To be fair, it's not really his looks that bug me. The dude is just a WHINER and that always rubs me the wrong way.

Chance of a lifetime, and all I see is him crying and bitching about his knees.

Yup. It's Shar-pei

I think they don't show a lot of the food stuff because it's boring tv.

Hubby keeps mentioning that he wonders why they don't show what the contestants eat.

I've often wondered about that as well. Once in a blue moon it shows them cooking something healthy, grabbing a healthy Breakfast, or shows them going to Subway, but that's about it. food is a major part of weight loss. You'd think they would show what they eat...

They don't show what they eat because they have to fix their own food. They are put in there with new foods and seasonings and have no idea how to fix them. Their not shown how to cook healthy with this new food. It is only on a rare occasion they show them the way to cook healthy. That is what we see. I will see if I can't find the article and post it.

OK I found it. Hopefully this works.http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=eating_habits_of_the_biggest_loser_inspirational_or_a_bad_example

Not really surprised by that blog. I've always assumed that alot of the contestants do not keep off the weight. It's just unrealistic to do what they do on the show and have it keep up.

However, I also assumed the show at least showed them at least initially how to prepare the food right. That is just wrong. Also, by allowing the "cheating" they allow pre weigh ins, that is very dangerous.

I do watch the show most of the time, but it is more to get pumped the right way. I don't try to compare myself to their weight loss, just the opposite. I make sure I am doing things the proper way.

I'm a definate TBL addict!

I have taken recipes from the show and used them, but I agree, some additional time on preparing and planning healthy meals would be welcome.

I wish the Brown team dad would just keep his bad knees in the pool and do his extra workouts there - it's gotta feel better for him and it would be an extra dimension they could add to the show - more water-based exercises for those too heavy (or too injured) to do the standard killer routines they do on the show.

When I worked as a lifeguard, I met a woman who had lost over 200 pounds by swimming. She had a lot of excess skin, and was planning surgery to get rid of it, but she was much healthier and happier. She still was a little "soft" compared to weight trainers, but she was happy.

That whole Tara / Blaine thing made me go "Hmmm" as well - seems she was just a bit TOO upset for that to have been entirely platonic on her part. I guess they could have just bonded over a shared experience, but still...as a wife that kind of thing raises red flags with me.

When they don't show them eating or even mention it during a 6-8 jour work out it sends the wrong message, when they ran for the keys in that hot sun I never saw any of them drink Water. While the eating side might be a little more boring I think they could throw in something each week, not to much of course cause then why would anyone buy the cook books they have out?

My turn I guess

I love the show even though I know its very unhealty to loose the weigh they do but it does make me wish I could afford Jillian, for some reason I don't think Bob could inspire me the way she could, not just his feminine side, just love the way she doesn't take any crap. I know easier said when shes doing it to someone else.

Yellow team bores me

Pink team - did u see how mad momm got when daughter fell off balance challenge and "caused: her to fall as well

Green team - Tara is a work horse and maybe Lauras gonna show up

Brown Team - dad drives me nuts, sons kicking his but to keep them in there dad just cries, if he knew how bad his knew were he had to know they'd effect them as a team

Purple team - Kristin kicks but, shes one of the biggest and still hangs tight with them

Blue team - hard not to like but when they had immunity and only lost a couple lbs it bothers me, I hear its strategy but grrrr

Black team - well since Bob gave the azz chewing for not sending him home he has won a small place in my heart

I know zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Really tired of brown ripple dad

:tt2: :tt2: ;)

We call the dad "sharpay".

Is that wrong?

...again...

I know that for a fact. When they do the cooking scene's I FF right through.

OMG, Can you imagine them showcasing him doing his pool workouts?

...again...

OMG, I'm such a bitch.

OK, I love blue -- they are super HOT!

Pink, they both annoyed me so I'm not crying over Shanon leaving.

Purple, I like them! For once I seen someone with genuine tears on this show. Too much pining goes on and it really annoys the crap out of me.

Brown, please... please... PLEASE fall below the yellow line next week --- or, or, OR PUT ON YOUR SHIRTS!

Tara and the other green chick... I'm just kidding of course but her partner doesn't get any love. I like her, and you know what? Tara constantly bashing her and making her feel inferior ISN'T HELPING!

That is all.

LilMissDiva,

I have to thank you for the ROFLMBO moment - I'm sitting here giggling at my computer (having just gotten up off the office floor)...

You are too funny!

That I would love to see.

I would prefer Bob too.

The thing is, back in August I was going to the gym 1-2x a week for 30 min. of stationary bike. Fast forward 6 months and I'm doing about 3x that much and in the best shape of my life.

Did that happen because some harpy pushed me past my breaking point and screamed at me if I protested? No.

It happened because I started from the point I was at and *gradually* built up as I got stronger. No yelling was necessary, either.

This is part of why I hate the show. They are not showing good ways to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way. It's all about dramatic short-term changes.

While I know dads had RNY and now this it just doesn't work on me any more, his boys need to loose just as bad as he does if not more than are walking in his steps and the cycle needs to end. I was trying to find some info on him and see how much he lost with RNY but no luck yet.

I think the reason I'd want Jillian is when I was younger and thin I manipulated men so easily while women I never really made friends with. My thought process is she'd push and I'd have to prove I was tough enough, thats the appeal as far as a trainer goes. I like Bob but I would want someone I didn't want to be nice to. I know its crazy sounding when I reread it but thats me YIKES :tt2:

I've been dreaming about it for 30 years or so. It's time to make it happen!

I joined yesterday when I was struggling with this preop diet...
It typically comes and goes, the hard times and easier times. I'm on day 6 of 14  shakes, water, sf Popsicles and jello. And I might actually be losing my mind. But, oh dear lord has the fear set in. Not about the surgery itself, but life afterwards. If I feel this crappy on the preop diet, am I going to feel like this forever after?
I know most of the answers are no, not forever. It might be worse after for a while, then get better. I know it's a more of a mental challenge than physical after the first couple weeks of healing. I get all of that. But I'm starting to feel scared about losing myself afterwards.
It might be my hormones or desire to chew something salty talking.. It may go away soon or tomorrow.. I can hope, anyway. But right now.. The fear is real.

And this liquid diet can bite me.

Fear is normal, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm 4.5 months post-op and the pre-op diet was by far the hardest part of the whole process. There will be challenges and a lot of new things to learn, but I can honestly say at this point I feel so much more "back to normal" and was even able to go on a week-long vacation with my kids without stressing over it. It's so worthwhile.

      2. OhMyGawdItzKla

@NickelChip This actually does make me feel better! Thank you so much! After the onslaught of Covid, we've all had to deal with a "new normal", so I know it's possible. It's just the fear and frustration in this moment that makes me question if I can find another "new normal" afterwards. The thought of just a few more months seems daunting some times, but I really do appreciate input and real experience. I'll use that to get me through for a few more hours! LOL. Thank you so much! And I'm glad everything is going so well for you! ❤️

I started my 10 day pre op diet yesterday I need flavor!! I'm not big on the chocolate protein shakes so I just got to use up what I have was thinking about freezing it to make it like a ice cream so its something I can chew a little. Idk this is hard but I know I can do it just need to find new things to try

You can try. I've read other people have had good results with protein-shake popsicles, etc. My personal experience with it? Sucked.

I tried making 'fudgesicles' with a couple different flavors of a premade shake, as well as a protein powder I blended myself and all of them came out revolting? The powder ones, all the protein sunk to the middle; the premade shakes, the popsicle had a disgusting texture and the protein seemed to leave a weird fluffy film on the outside? I couldn't stomach it.

Maybe look into flavoring additives? I was able to have sugar-free coffee /soda syrup flavorings, sugar-free drink flavorings and baking additives like almond, rum or pepperment extract. The extracts helped me the most as they added no extra sweetener.

On the other hand, if you can get your hands on an unflavored/unsweetened protein powder, the syrup flavorings are perfect. I love to use Boost "Just Protein" (which is unflavored) with milk and a Chai-flavored sugarfree syrup.

        Good luck!
