Manatee...Why do you think the purple team Water loaded?

It looked to me that the daughter was visibly upset, and I don't know why they would want to water load? Is it for bigger numbers next week?

Is it for bigger numbers next week?

Yup. Because each week stands separate, it makes sense to load up on as much temporary weight as possible just before the weigh-in. It makes your numbers the next week lower. Remember, these folks are quite literally drenched in sweat with their last-chance workout, and most don't rehydrate until after the weigh-in. Simply guzzling a lot of Water post-workout will raise your weight.

What they should do is make the yellow line each week dependent on total % weight loss from the beginning of the season. That will keep folks honest, and if folks have been rocking and hit a stall they won't get tossed out.

Great idea! I would love to see them do that. It would keep folks honest, and be a true determination of who's working the hardest longer.

I had mixed feelings about last night. I don't like the yellow team. Mandi HAD just said that she wasn't going to let the "family" being there stop her, and what does she do????? even though she lost 6#'s and then there's Aurbry (sp) crying like a baby cause she missed her family. I like my family and all, but I need to get this weight off to be happy with them and live to see more DGbabies. I don't know how it feels to be away from them for 6 months (isn't that the right months?), well maybe I do cause they are grown and don't live near me, and I do get a chance to talk to my DD everyday, but she would support me trying to lose the weight. I really like the blue team, I'm happy for them.

No reaction to last night's show? Or has the site been busted for everyone?

Pretty clear waterloading on the part of the immunity pair. Sorry to see one of the guys go, but a bad week is a bad week. Should have been yellow, IMHO. You're there to work on a goal, freaking work on it!

Wasn't very dramatic last night.

Yellow team - way annoying (both of them).

Purple team - no strong opinion yet.

Yellow team - it bears repeating - very annoying. Aubrey is especially annoying.

Mandi -- anyone that blubbers that much and is worred about how the family is coping without her makes me question whether she's really concerned about them or whether she's so insecure, she's afraid they'll figure out they get along just fine without her. I have a husband and 2 young children but when I go out of town for business, I don't worry about them. They'll survive. My husband knows how to feed himself and the children. Granted, the longest I've been gone has been 1 1/2 weeks but still... The longer you're gone, the more they're used to coping without you so you have even less to worry about. The worry I think is really fear.

Blue team - I love those boys! Especially Felipe

My two favorites are Felipe and the strong one from the Green team

i really like this idea, though i still don't think the purple team Water loaded. very well could be (daughters) TOM, or body just saying - taking a break this wk. i just refuse to go on the scale during PMS because i can be up 7lbs on any given day during that time & it's not real weight gain because it's gone the following wk. i think water loading takes place - just dont' think so w/the purple team....i also really like them along w/blue.

the crying just makes me annoyed @yellow. so the mouthy one (can't remember names) who barked at joelle last wk - who lost 2lbs lost what this wk 1lb???? yeah, how about run & shut up...she was still bossy at the after "weighing" mtg.

still pulling for brown - that kid had an emotional wk, and he pulled thru - very happy for him.

I think I'm pulling for green. I like Tara's attitude, but admit that I don't even know the name of her teammate.

Last night was super boring - but Tara is my fav, I think she will be voted off first chance they get because she is the strongest competitor (weight and challenges). For some reason I don't like the mother daughter duo Shannon and? I can't figure out why - but they just kinda irk me.

I am getting bored with brown - neither can win the game and I get to see enough not losing with my own weight loss, I wanna see people work it and drop it. They just don't do it for me.

I am in a bad mood tonight, lol, tomorrow I will be all, awe, I didn't mean that about the brown team, the boy is so young and the dad is hurt. I wish Dan was back, I could route for him.

Yellow needs to shut up, suck it up and cry in the shower. Ugh, Im sick of them. BUT I have an inkling the prettier one may win - seems the prettiest girls make it to the end. - I think Tara will be a hottie too.

I am normally not this vocal - but last night was boring - so I had time to think about it. :-)

Ugh, I am rambling.

I thought they were there for 6 weeks, not months? I read that somewhere else but no where definitive.

I think I am hoping for the purple team. No one wanted them on their team in the beginning and they have been good contestants. I really liked what the purple mom said after the weigh in. I am glad that in the long run, they all had a heart and sent home Blaine since he really wanted to go home.

Take away the drama queens and out goes most of the drama. The show is still very interesting to me, tho, and I'll watch uninterrupted 'til the end. Macmadame I think you're right - I think its only about 6 weeks on the ranchor so but def not 6 months.

The dad of the brown team bothers me - yes, I know he's hurt but shouldn't the weight be coming off of him that much faster between the surgery & his size? Seems like he does a lot of talking.

I like the purple team but the daughter really hasn't been pulling the numbers. HOWEVER, that was a great job they did on the chalenge. WOW! Glad they won out over the green team.

Guessed that the yellow team would suffer if hubby came. Too much co-dependancy. And she's going to struggle with that I believe once off the ranch.

That first challenge was kind of disappointing, tho, the results of it were very interesting. How everyone gave into (Paula?) so her DH could come over. They kind of saved themselves with that one (except Blaine)

All in all tho I'm not on the ranch and don't really know what its like, having cameras on me while I puke on the treadmill. SO I have to give them all credit.

You mean the amount of time total the longest members are on the ranch? They've already been there six weeks and they are just now doing the individual eliminations. Six months is too long, but six weeks just passed.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
