nat36 2 Posted January 6, 2009 My Mum is considering having a lap band but she has had extensive abdominal surgery including kidney removal and a large tumour removed in her side. She is wondering if this would prevent her from having the surgery. Has anyone had extensive surgery and then a lapband we would like to hear. By the way I have been doing really well have reached my goal now need all the wobbly bits chopped off LOL
emmaf106 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Congrats on getting to goal Nat! Not sure about the surgery for your mum. I'd suggest she speaks to a surgeon about it.

mss 1 Posted February 7, 2009 Sorry Nat I didn't see this question earlier. I have had a lot of abdominal surgery as well and the surgeon told me at the time that if when he operated he found that he wouldn't be able to put the band in laparascopically that he wouldn't go through with the surgery. Thankfully he was able to do it though he did say that all of the scar tissue I had made it quite complex. I was terrified that I would wake up and find they hadn't been able to do the surgery.
