I'm so cold-is this normal?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Major question here. I had my band (realize) in Aug '08 and have lost like 37 pounds. I'm pretty happy with it and enjoying the weightloss.

Anyway-I am sooo cold! I have always been a little on the cold side, but this winter it seems so much worse. I have had to turn the thermostat up to almost 80 to be comfortable.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if it's just me. I have never had thyriod problems, so I don't think that's it. Being heavy, I have been watching that.

Any suggestions very, VERY welcome!!

Laurie

I think it is just your body adapting to the reduction of fat. I stay cold now too. I believe it could also do with your Iron lvl.

With many bandsters, this is normal (there are a few other threads discussing this). I've learned to wear more layers as I refuse to turn up the thermostat!

I have never been so cold as this year. I never felt the cold before but now I actually took jumpers to work for the first time ever. Its just one small thing that I can deal with cos the pay off is so worth it.

I too have this problem, it is good in one way. I can exercise heavily before I get to sweating. I was banded in Jan 08, I have realized the more I exercise to keep my body warm the better my weight loss is and the warmer I stay. If I am just sittin around the house I normally have on an tank/undershirt type under what ever else, either a sweatshirt or a tee shirt. Most of the other threads that discuss this relate it to the weightloss factor and your body trying to maintain a normal temp. It is having to work less due to less fat there on the old body. THis is something I can cerainly learn to live with, instead of the excess wt.

I stay cold all the time also. I used to be the one that had hot flashes constantly and would just pour sweat. Now, it is the other way around. I just chalked it up to less body fat and my blood pressure being lower. I would MUCH rather be cold than that "sweaty chick" sitting somewhere in short sleeves praying someone will turn down the heat!!

I too am cold all the time now that I even had to go out and buy me some long johns to wear under my pants and tops. I am a winter baby and enjoy the cold temperatures but I'd much rather have on a sweater now becuase I'm always freezing. I often tell people that I am still fat but I lost my good fat (which was what kept me warm). They often laugh and disagree with the part about me being fat which I truly appreciate. I think out weight loss has a lot to do with it.

I've read where a lot of folks on the board, like me, are constantly cold.

I bought myself an electric blanket this year for the first time ever. Crawling into those cold sheets felt like torture and I just couldn't do it anymore. DH bought me some nice slippers and a very cozy robe for Christmas and I am finally feeling comfortable (mostly). I too refuse to turn the thermostat up. LOL

I have the same affliction . . . constantly freezing.

I now dress in layers. I have also started taking a bath each evening before bed so that I feel OK. When I am really cold, my hands and feet just don't seem to warm up until I take a bath.

I used to sweat like a pig all the time. Now I'm constantly wearing a sweater. My poor hubby. He is now my official foot warmer at bedtime. When he's out of town traveling, it takes me forever to warm my feet up!!

After losing about 120 pounds in a year and a half, I am ALWAYS cold! I was on the chilly side before, but now it's just ridiculous! I, too, dress in layers and sit around with a blanket on me at home! I also take a thick wool sweater with me when I go places and keep a sweater at work at all times. I think it's because I don't have all my layers of fat to keep me warm anymore!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
