18 Months 65 lbs and 60 to go Yikes!!

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

I was banded in June 2007 and have since lost 65 lbs. My weight loss was stagnant for aproximately 6 months but I recently got back on track and lost another 10 lbs. and am feeling great about myself again. I had my surgery at Credit Valley hospital in Toronto and my only regret was that I didn't access outside support from fellow bandsters before now. I didn't tell anyone about my surgery for fear of having judgements made and having to explain myself to people. This was a very personal decision and wanted to keep my weight loss issues to myself. I think that it was the best decision for me but am very happy to be able to communicate with people who share the same concerns and issues. Its just one of those things that you actually have to live through to understand. I'm looking for some motivation from fellow bandsters to keep losing those pounds! I hope to lose another 20 lbs before next June my year two anniversary!

I am here to say way to go! It is half of the battle to know you were off track and to find your way back. Congrats on the 65lb weight loss and i hope that you will lose all that you are aiming for.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
