Hi all.

I'm beginning this whole process. The only appointment I've gone to as of now is meeting with the nutritionist. I have my psychiatric evaluation this friday, and am VERY nervous about it. I feel like it's a test and i have such a fear of tests. Any suggestions on surviving the Psyc Eval?

I also have my gallbladder ultrasound on monday, another meeting with the nutritionist, then the actual meeting wtih my doctor next thursday. I cant' wait to get moving with all these appointments and finally get to the surgery. I want to move on to the next phase of my life.

Here's to all you LapBanders out there!

Don't stress about the psych evaluation, it won't be bad at all. I started this lap band process a long time ago, and only have about eight weeks left of supervised diet to go to fulfill all the insurance requirements. I started seeing a psychologist back in June and have gone a couple times a month since then. I could have gone just once, but I thought I'd try to learn something from it. It's definitely helped me resolve some issues and I still want to go forward with the surgery more than ever! Just find out from your insurance what specific questions your psychologist needs to cover with you in their report.

I just had my surgeon consult on Jan. 2nd and the lady who submits everything to insurance knew exactly what questions needed to be covered in your physician visits and your psych evaluation. But don't be afraid of the process...it's a lot of work and time consuming, but it gives you lots of time to make sure this is what you want to do. I've been going through the motions since May and I am almost there! Good luck and don't worry!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
