if the Lord created us with taste buds then why does the bad stuff taste so good

Recommended Posts

I wish there was some sort of thing that could make my taste buds dissapear so I wouldn't enjoy desserts!

If anyone knows the answer- please let me know!

If we are supposed to eat to live and not live to eat why does the food have to taste so good?

The whole food industry we have to battle is based on economics. bread was a big staple back in the day- is that why the food pyramid reccomendes so many servings?

(not that I can even eat bread!)

Well, we don't really "need" our appendix- so I guess we really don't "need" sugar either!

If I knew how to invent something to take away my taste buds and make me hate sugar- I would!

I was good for a while on the abstienence route-yeah it helps you not crave it- but I had I major problem this weekend at a wedding... getting back on the wagon is hard!!! My willpower was in the other room when I needed it most. Those Desserts were giving me puppy dog eyes, saying "eat me, I'm just a sweet little thing"

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Try to look at your fruits as the forbidden chocolate. Let it be the strawberry that stares you down, and cave in. If you pretend fruit is now you "chocolate" you will enjoy it much more. Plus, there is that new sugar sub (Tuvia?). You can still have some sweets. Just remember. EVERYTHING IN MODERATION. There are many foods that are healthy that taste good, you are just fixating on the bad ones. You just have to re-program your mind. Try an exotic cheese, or mango slices, anything that makes your tastebuds dance and sing. Junk food starts to taste all the same after a while anyway...

Well, in a way it makes evolutionary sense that we would prefer foods that are going to sustain us - sugar and fat together - its not poisonous, it packs mega calories, it will sustain you over a long period. When food only came along once every two days and you had to chase it down, fat intake wasnt a problem.

In these days of plentiful food and low energy expenditure, it would make evolutionary sense to prefer foods providing less energy. It may well be the case in another couple of hundred million years.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
