Just got banded on 12/12/08. Started this journey 12/2/08 at 264 lbs. after 10 days of liquid diet hell at surgery my weight was 258 and now after 3 weeks I have lost 12 lbs. I have been at a stand still for a week now that I don't understand since alot of things make me sick and I don't eat much. I know for a fact I can not eat breads. I know they told me they left 3 cc in when they put it in and I have not even went for my 1st fill yet. Am I expecting to much to soon? Should I stop freaking out? I am scared of gaining. My doctor said I should be eating soft solids by now and start exercising after 4-6 weeks of surgery but I already started walking. I am taking a Multi-V daily but no Protein Shakes. Has anyone out there been through this?????

Need Help In Texas,

V----

Welcome to LapBandTalk!

Have you talked to your doctor about the fact that everything makes you sick? They should have good suggestions and also they will be able to tell if it's something serious. For example, you may just need to eat slower but you may need some of your fill taken out. That's not something we can tell here.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
