Before I got banded I had tried her workout and online program...I loved it! I lost like 30 pounds in 2-3 weeks. I felt good...it's kind of hard at first and sometimes you have to push yourself, but it feels so good. I'm going to start it up again as soon as I get my DVD player fixed lol. I have her books too...lol

wow! Did you mean 30lbs in 2-3 weeks? How much did you weigh? Did you follow her meal plan? Are you planning to do follow the meal plan now that you are banded?

At that time I weighed about 240-245. I tried to follow her meal plan, but at that time I just wasn't in control of my mind hunger and what not yet. Then I fell back into my old lazy ways and ate everything and up I went again. I think I may go back and do the excersise with the meal plan and the band! I love her!!! Her workouts are great and I can just hear her yelling at me and it makes me push myself harder

thanks for the information. My bestfriend gave me a copy of Jillian's 30 day Shread. Have you tried that particular one? Your current weight loss is exceptional as well. What have you been doing since the band? I really want to be down 30-45 in the next 90 days or so. I have been feeling more encouraged particularly if you are not pulling my leg about Jillian's workout. Do ou mind telling me what exactly you did to get the great results?

I signed up for here online program where it personalizes it to you. It was like circut training. Wall squats, lunges, jumping jacks, arm lifts, curls...I didn't have any weights so I used things I had around the house: bottled Water, vegetable cans, shoes...I have the 30 day shred, but I haven't tried that one yet. Since I was banded I really watched my portions. In the beginning I was so afraid to eat because I didn't want to get stuck or vomit. I also keep an eye on my calories. I stopped drinking soda and changed to 1% milk. I drink water and iced tea and sometimes crystal light. I make sure I eat my protien first. I was also a huge soda drinker too so when I cut those out I think that gave me a jump start. I also started walking a little more then I used to (which isn't too much more lol). I found that things that I used to love shoving in my face, at a rate that would now make me sick, didn't taste good to me anymore. I have a lot of support from my family, friends, husband...It's always good to have a few cheerleaders on your side of the field  lol

I don't think that is always the case. I have been consistent with programs before being banded with no success...sometimes it's not enough for your body or too repetative to have the results you're looking for. Some programs don't work for others...everyone is different! :cursing:

Calories in, vs calories out.

If you take in more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

It's very simple.

I would be interested in seeing someone's eating habits/diet ratios if they didnt' lose weight while working out, and eating properly.

I understand that, but what I'm saying is your body gets used to what you are doing so while in the beginning you may lose weight, but if you don't change what you are doing and you just consistantly do what you were doing in the beginning you may stop losing and not be successful...that's all.

any program can be successful with CONSTANCY.

Until it doesn't.

Diet and exercise alone have a horrible track record when you look at the long term. Heck, they have a horrible track record in the short term -- most have gained all their weight back in only 2 years which is nothing in the greater scheme of things.

But you know this. You lost weight through diet and exercise and couldn't keep it off--just like everyone else. That is why you are getting a band.

Just losing weight isn't success...the true success is keeping that weight off!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
