julie.ann 1 Posted January 5, 2009 I really hope that I don't feel this way everytime it is time for another fill. I really need your opinon.... I had my first fill Dec. 5th. It took about 10-14 days for that fill to kick in. I am questioning wether or not I need a fill. I am scheduled for a fill on Friday. I eat and don't get hungry for 4-6 hrs depending on what I eat. I can eat more than 1/2 - 1 cup, but I try hard not too. I have come to realize that even thin frozen Pizza Crust is not band friendly, but if I stay away from bread I usually don't have a problem with anything getting stuck. I was on a two week plateau that I think I have recently begun to break out of. (Otherwise I wouldn't question it and I would just go! If I don't lose anymore weight by Friday I definately should go.) Even when I am hungry it isn't an overwelming hunger. I worry about getting too tight and having to drive 8 hrs back to Denver. I can eat any time of the day. The band is never too tight for that. Not in the morning or at night. I know the chance that I am where I need to be with only 1 fill is slim-to-none. I am still a new bandster...what do you think?
MistyD65 1 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Wow, look how much you have lost! You are doing great! Julie Ann, given the description of your eating habits and how you feel, coupled with the 8 hours you have to go for a fill (or possible unfill), if it was me I would choose to put off a fill. I also have only had one fill (0.6 cc in a 4 cc band), but I am losing steadily and hunger is not a huge issue. I can eat just about anything I want, at any time of the day, I've never PBed, and have only gotten "stuck" a couple of times, due to forgetting to chew carefully (and those episodes were very mild and short). If I eat more than a cup of good food I end up feeling it around my band - an uncomfortable feeling like having a stitch in your side from running. Sometimes I DO eat too much, sometimes I DO eat the wrong things, and the head hunger is MUCH harder to resist than the physical hunger. I gained and lost the same couple of pounds during the holiday season, but now that things are back to normal the weight is moving downward. I've got an appointment for a fill today, but I don't think I want one. The only thing I would like more help on is staying full longer, but that isn't really affecting me too much. I guess I rambled on to get to this point - you can be successful with just one fill. Weigh all the factors, including the possibility of being too tight and having to make that trip again, even (God forbid) in an emergency situation. Perhaps you can talk with your doctor by phone and see what he thinks. Best wishes on whatever your decision is! Edited January 5, 2009 by MistyD65
mdgarcia31665 0 Posted January 5, 2009 I would call the doctor first and see what he says. It sounds like you are okay for now. Also ask him if you can schedule an appointment if you feel you need it prior to your 4 or 6 week scheduled appt. 8 hours is a long drive for him to tell you you don't need a fill. I go the other way around. I do really well for about two weeks after my fill and then have very little restriction the last two weeks before my next fill. By the way, you are doing great! Keep up the good work!
julie.ann 1 Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks guys. I think that I will be very aware of my body and hunger and weight over the next few days and make my final decision on THursday morning, but I have a feeling I will be putting it off.
