I am Chowin' Down, and Getting Fat! Need Help and Advice.

Ah, this isnt the same as the "I ate a burger 2 days after surgery" thread that got so much tough love. This is more common garden variety breaking out.

I do it too on occasion and yes, when you do it, it snowballs and you do it more and more. I could eat what you just described in an hour, and I have what I consider good fill. I'm WAY less likely to do it with good fill.

Its not a matter of "deserving" your fill, its a matter of using your band. Not to stop you being able to eat that much but to stop the desire to do so.

5lb is only 5lb, its not a lot, thank goodness it wasnt worse. You do need to deliver yourself a good hard face slap though and yell STOP. There's no other way than to just STOP. No more bingeing. Fill up on good food if you need to, get the fill, keep up the exercise and put it behind you.

Amy, I am proud of you and I was just going to write the same story about myself!! My adjustment is today and I was going to cancel because I too have gained 5-6 pounds and I am disgusted with myself!! And embarrased but we all Are in the same boat!! I have lost 75 pounds since my surgery Aug1,2008 But feel my bad habits are resurfacing and I am scared and angry that the motivation is slipping. Hang in there!!!

I feel for you, as I'm going through this right now. I have been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. for months.

This is a tough stage to go through! Don't you feel that after a year or so the support goes away?

I am in the same boat, but they are not going to pick up the phone at the clinic and make us go, we have to pick up that phone and make the next move.

I know..easy for me to say, but this is what I need to do too.

Those monthly weigh-ins helped keep me on track, then it went to 3 month weigh-in to now just every 6 months.

I need more discipline than that, but when I complained to the clinic they said they would work with me. What did I do about this? NOTHING!

So, not sure this will work for you but I am going to

1. Call the clinic for a fill

2. Make appointment to get back on track with the nutionist. I need to be accountable for the foods I eat.

3. Start journaling again get get off my lazy arse! :scared2:

Sorry to rant, but hope this helps!

PS: Your picture is wonderful! You can do this! You are already just about there. Just focus on the good stuff.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
