thanks guys... i AM getting the needed rest here vs at home where with DD it is loud and at times really stressful... she is VERY active....

ive got a few movies loaded on my laptop and the 'requests' into DO to have more.... i do have enough to keep me occupied i think.... between movies, reading and the dreaded TV... which i rarely watch....

i have a double edged concern though .. i am STARVING all.the.time now... ALL THE TIME... i can literally eat at 11 and be famished at 12... and the only thing that really satisfies me is bready type things... nilla wafers, crackers, etc.... DH brought me tons of stuff to munch on ... granted when i eat it, it's not much - 2-3 nilla wafers if i wake up in the middle of the night, but its the fact that i eat in the middle of the night and then lay down and (try to) sleep ... the weight is just going to pile on... i'm already at my limit for myself... **sigh**

just venting...

and yes, FF, it's Joshua... :cursing: i cant believe another couple of weeks (ideally 3) i'll be looking at his beautiful face...

Oh LJM,

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Still praying that all goes well these next few weeks! Try to take advantage of the rest, you know you're not going to get any once you get home with your new baby!!

As for the munching, I have no advice except maybe drink Water before you reach for the crackers. It might slow you down enough. If it doesn't then maybe instead of 3 nilla waffers, it's only 1 or 2.

Hang in there!

IF my BP continues to cooperate, my OB said they will induce me when I

am 38 weeks which will be January 30th. BUT that does not necessarily

mean he will be here that Friday. they will more than likely start the

process on Thursday the 29th then start the 'good drugs' on Friday to

get me into labor... she said i could labor all day on the 30th and

deliver on the 31st or if its a quick labor (fingers crossed) it could

be the 30th..

sooo...im just going to chill out here until either:

- i go into labor on my own (entirely possible and i'm far enough along

to where they will not stop it)

- if my BP spikes and continues to stay up (hopefully not) and they

induce me early

- January 30th when they induce me...

When I was in the hospital for 5 weeks on bed rest, my friend brought me one of those cross stitch things. It had nothing printed on it and you have to stitch according to counting the little blocks on the fabric.

I never finished it, but it was very time consuming and took my mind off how badly I hated being in there.

I was not allowed out of bed for any reason. They brought me so much food I had to sneak into the bathroom and flush some of it down the toilet. I would no sooner finish Breakfast, and they would be bringing me a big sandwich. That was way before banding though.

My son was very healthy when I had my C section as soon as his lungs were developed, so it paid off, as miserable as it was.

We are all thinking of you!

Just curious, what's your reaction to being told you may be in labor for a couple of days?

I mean I know it's always a real possibility, but to actually be told near time they think it will go down that way?

Woohoo though, seems like right around the corner!

honestly? it petrifies me ... we were supposed to have our child birth class the first time i was in the hospital .... i know its probably basic stuff, but AHHHH!

im going to request that they start the pitocin (sp?) about 4am to see if we can get things going early... i WILL have an epidural so that should take some of the edge off, but still...

and one of THE WORST things is ... on the 30th i wont be able to eat ANYTHING solid... i cant even have Water... popsicles, ice chips... thats it ... i told the nurse no wonder people giving birth are cranky - they're freaking hungry...

its just so surreal - 2 weeks from now, (give or take a day), i WILL be holding my son... :yikes:

I would take this with a grain of salt. Yes, it could possibly take a couple of days . . . but that is so incredibly rare, even with the first child. I wonder what the average labor time is, I will have to google it.

Sometimes I think you get the worst case scenario so that you can be pleasantly surprised when you do so much better, lol. It is kind of like banding when my surgeons office said I probably wouldn't lose anything before my first fill, then when I was actually losing I was extra motivated.

I was told the same thing when I had my son. I wasn't induced but the doctor did something he called "stirring the cervix" which was a bit painful. I think it is equivalent to stripping membranes now. I went to an ob appointment at 9:00 am and before I left I said my back was a little uncomfortable. He was born at almost 4:00 PM that very same day.

Everyone has such different experiences, you just never know. It might end up being so much easier than you ever would have expected.

I can only go off of like the handful of births I've known about.. my friend had a (first) baby last year, they induced her with the pitocin and 24 hours later, she was regressing (she also had pre-eclampsia) so they ended up doing a c-section, she never even got around to pushing.

My bro's ex was in labor for 24 hours (first/only baby), and wow she was cranky lol.

I hate hospitals to begin with, the bed rest thing sounds miserable to me, so I think those of you who mention it don't totally complain about it so you're already tougher than me.

I was born in the lobby (2nd baby), my mom had the flu and thought I was diarhea. I was crowning before she realized she was actually in labor, and they didn't have time to prep her for anything.

She said she was in labor for 2 days with my brother, and it was the time when any drugs were frowned upon so she didn't even have an epidural. By time she had my sister (3rd) epidurals were in style, so that was her first with any kind of pain relief and she said it made it so much nicer, she actually got to enjoy the experience.

I'm terrified when I think about the actual birthing process, plus the fact my doc does not want to have to do c-section due to my kidney..so I keep thinking, boys are big.. he's gonna be big, he's gonna totally rip me open and kill my pelvis because my doc won't do a c-section just cause he's very big, etc.. All those kinds of worries :(

AND I think about breech, I saw some videos online of breech deliveries.. holy hell. Ow..Normally they do a c-section if they're breech and won't move, but some people just don't do c-sections, so they end up getting torn all to pieces down there.

Yeah, I'm not tryin to be scary, just sharing my worries.. not like I'm not in the same boat anyway!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
